Gene linked to reduced lifespan in mice

A study suggests that mice that lack the FAT10 gene have a 20% longer lifespan than mice with the gene, potentially as a result of increased metabolic rate, preferential use of fat over carbohydrates for energy, and reduced body fat in these mice.
