Holy cow. Perhaps supplementing with potassium is a good idea for many of us. I enjoyed the complexity you added to the Na:K and insulin/blood sugar dynamic. I look forward to hearing what Carl's bodybuilder discovers after adjusting his diet as Carl suggests.

Erratum on the the K:Na ratio in the ancestral diet... I don't know what came over me, but for whatever reason I just said the K:Na ratio, i.e. the ratio of salt to potassium, in the ancestral diet was 1:1 This is however what some researchers suggest would be the MINIMUM to achieve. * Currently the ratio is 1:3 for large parts of the Western society. * The ancestral diet hat a ratio of 8-9:1! Whether that's optimal, is another question, but I guess it explains what I said about our ancestors need to make sure that they get their share of sodium.
