Quick correction: It appears that other species do not manufacture vitamin C, but is a surprisingly low number. Humans and other primates, as well as guinea pigs and fruit bats do not produce Vitamin C according to a number of articles including this one:

Carl said on the show that only humans and guinea pigs do not produce vitamin C.

I am hoping that sciencedaily.co m is a reliable source. Where do people go to find trustworthy answers for science questions? Please don't say wikipedia.
