[00:00:00] Hey, hey, welcome back to another episode of superhuman radio. We have a great show planned today. It's the blueprint Power Hour with Coach Rodriguez going to start just a moment. Just want to draw attention to this. Friday's pep talk. We're going to be talking about the peptide PT 141 since its FDA has approved by lessee to be used in women who seem to lose their libidos as they go through [00:01:00] menopause by Lisa is nothing more than PT 141.
[00:01:04] And it's a very powerful peptide and it works. It works in men. It works in women much much much better. So if you're a guy who's struggling with your partner because as she's gotten older she's lost her interest in having sex. This could actually save your marriage and. That'll be Friday. So don't miss that.
[00:01:28] Let's play coach Rob's Music calling all blueprint Army fall in line. It's time for the blueprint Power Hour with Coach Rodriguez on the Superhuman Radio Network.
[00:01:45] Hey Rob, how you doing? I'm doing great. That's real interesting news on PT 141. Have they worked out the blood pressure spike is well the blood pressure spiked. Only an issue when you took it intranasally it was never an issue when you [00:02:00] inject it. Well, I remember reading something about that.
[00:02:06] Yeah. No, the blood pressure was only an issue with the intranasal the nasal spray version of it. Right question for that would write to the brain and it did something that that you didn't want. It's not an issue when you inject it at all. At least a reasonable amount of it, right? Well, I don't want to get ahead of the interview.
[00:02:29] But when men take it they have to take about 4 milligrams, but women only need one milligram. Well, so it's it's quite a difference in the dosing. For guys vs. Gals quite a difference. That's great stuff, and I can't wait to listen to that you yeah, it's you know, this is a big reason that people get divorced.
[00:02:55] There's two reasons people get divorced. Financial stress [00:03:00] and let's just say disparity in the need for sex men's sex drive tends to continue on as they age women's tends to wane. And this becomes a real sore spot. It causes, you know people who are very much in love with each other to. Yeah, and it's sad right when you can do something about it now.
[00:03:24] Yeah, exactly. Now you can do something you can take a shot and with women at last three days. So if you did it on Friday, you know, you feel good about making love to your partner, you know, Friday Saturday and Sunday, most likely. Yeah, it's an important discussion and we actually have a female doctor coming on.
[00:03:45] Dr. Betsy. What's your last name? He'll tell you how long she could I wanted a woman to come on and talk about it. Right? Because guys are always like oh, yeah, you know guys are always trying to get us to have more sex. [00:04:00] And so, you know, this is just another scam or scheme and the reality is that I figured well, let's just get away.
[00:04:08] On hold on a second, which I'll tell you her last name right now because. Betsy Earth, dr. Betsy Earth why you are th. so she's a she's a orthopedist. She's a podiatrist. She is a clinician and she's also an anti-aging Doctor Who is part of the international peptide Society. So she's going to have lots of good stuff to talk about.
[00:04:38] Good, how are you? I'm doing great. I'll get into that a little bit later in the show. But my kidney values are now normal, you know, and it took 10 weeks, but how many of those weeks have you been off of ephedra After Dream? Oh gosh, only a week [00:05:00] or two. Do you notice that things sped up once you came off?
[00:05:07] No, because I can't really I was only off for a few days at that point. It's possible. Yes. I mean you came on this show at least two shows ago, which would put us in the range of one full week two full weeks. Yeah, probably like two full weeks now and said that you had stopped right and actually at least two shows ago could have been three shows ago actually so you've been off at long enough and.
[00:05:34] You've been offered for let's say two to three weeks and back then. Your values was still in the high end of normal, right? But now they've come down. I have to believe it had something to do with it. I really do whatever it is. It's you know, it's working. So yeah, that's right. No stay on that road.
[00:05:55] I am still waiting for my creatine kinase levels [00:06:00] oddly enough the blood work didn't call for that. He. Once he saw though that the creatinine was back within range. He's like he sent me right to the lab and and I gave it and I'm just waiting on the phone call. Good good. So hopeful that's good.
[00:06:17] Fantastic. When can you start training again? You think? Well, that's the big question. I think he's going to want to see CK down, but with the two papers that I presented to him, you know, I'm guessing. 500 you know instead of 200, right? Right? Yeah. Could you just maybe somebody will especially because you're probably losing a bunch of muscle right now to that has something to do with them.
[00:06:45] I don't know y'all be honest. I took measurements when pretty much the same size. Well, that's a good thing then curcumin and fish oil preserve muscle at Pier in periods of not training just keep animal. Really. Yeah. So there you go. [00:07:00] That's good. Okay. First question. What do you think is the most powerful advice?
[00:07:05] You can give someone in the gym? The most powerful advice I could give to someone is this keep keep it to just one set 1 work set and pursue strength increases at all costs. Now I can and will elaborate further but nothing I say nothing I can say is going to serve you better than that advice for the simple fact that.
[00:07:31] Doing that you are magnifying the most important fundamental of the three in training which is intensity. So it goes intensity volume and frequency by forcing someone to do more than they did last time during that one works at it's pretty powerful. So if your bench press was 204 6 last week, it needs to be 200 for seven or [00:08:00] more this week.
[00:08:01] In order for you right to recognize and enquiries that also greatly increases their focus. So now let me let me elaborate a little further. I would pursue strength increases in the upper body upper body movements for six to ten reps with three second negatives because the research is very clear, you know, those that are able to do a 3 second negative got a lot stronger and a lot bigger if they were able to do it.
[00:08:31] Consistently lower body work. I would tell you to shoot for the 15 to 20 reps range again with three second negatives. Although it isn't quite as crucial on the lower body stuff for the simple reason that you know, you're bumping up you're doing 20 reps on an exercise. You're getting close to the optimal time under tension.
[00:08:54] In truth. However, most people are going to be better served with a 5 Second [00:09:00] negative versus three. Why is that well because any of you that timed your reps, you know this to be true. Most people count. And my seventh year of the weight that they're using the faster we'll count. It's just human nature.
[00:09:18] So think about doing a 5 Second negative. You usually wind up doing doing the three and it's this advice is pertinent for this reason also strengthen creases always always precede size. If you don't believe that try getting bigger by getting weaker, you know or find me one example of someone who got weaker, but at the same time he or she got strong or got bigger.
[00:09:53] It doesn't happen not in the real world and especially not in [00:10:00] genetically typical and drug-free individuals. So I'm going to keep this one short so that you know, The you get the message strength increases always happen before size increases. So pursue strength first. If you are if you're still not growing God bless you add some volume, you know, that might be what you need but strength has to come first.
[00:10:25] This next question is an interesting question, especially because I thought about this myself because I saw a really interesting email from Mass over the weekend. Yep, what do you make again of the latest XD study at least insofar as legit products on the market and that's a big one because there's a lot of products that aren't legit.
[00:10:49] They don't really have what they're supposed to have in them. Well, look I can you know, I've been saying it for 25 years. However that recent study [00:11:00] confirmed something that someone else Mass has been saying for 25 years at least their own is a legal safe and effective performance enhancer. And now we have the research in humans right that proves that masses history with XD sterile goes back to 9.
[00:11:22] 93 from the day they open their doors They Carried a private van called zou discoveries Zeb, Utah, which was a summa sterile extract. It was outrageously effective. Unfortunately quality control became an issue and that's when he took his Summa production kind of In-House. It turns out that even using very low amounts of equity sterile.
[00:11:52] And that study conveyed the decisive advantage in performance muscle and health over 10 weeks [00:12:00] the group getting the most active which still wasn't a lot. I think it was forty eight milligrams something to that effect 48 milligrams a day. They put on nearly five pounds of. And it led to a significantly higher increase in one rep right max bench, press performance.
[00:12:21] So, you know, that's that should tell you something forty eight milligrams. That study also used. Yes, then it's extra and while math does think highly very highly of it like a deep green spinach extract. They actually go the extra mile to give their customers what I consider the best which they have three products with XD adaptogen then create a Bolin and Synn position.
[00:12:54] All of them use vastly Superior Source material to spinach for example [00:13:00] Ultra Suma an adaptogen. It's the only twenty five to one custom extract on the market and in the other two products in pidgin and creole Bolin, you're getting genuine Rippon to come carcinoid extract. I'm just stating the obvious here.
[00:13:17] Okay, the bar doesn't get any higher than masses XD. And they were true to it. Even what a lot of people were bad-mouthing it and say no. It doesn't work. He knew it works because he had the highest quality stuff. You know, it's the gold standard in Source. Material Bar None there used to be a company in Europe that was doing a standalone or Cee a vicar was Full Spectrum Unfortunately they sent you know, Discontinue the product.
[00:13:51] So look if you're in the United States by all means I would tell you if you're interested in using that D. [00:14:00] Go to mass. You know, you're going to get the genuine article. I can't say the same for a lot of other places thermal life used to having that de product called the E ball. It was a very high quality product.
[00:14:12] But even the I think they've discontinued all products and what I. So that's how to take advantage of the latest act has their own research and I would love love to hear from guys who take that plunge. I think it's going to be real interesting. You know, how much spinach would you have to eat to get a good dose?
[00:14:36] Obviously not 48 milligram, but to get us, you know, let's say 10 milligrams of equity how much spinach would you have to eat? I don't know the exact figure. But it's a lot. It's a lot the study authors even said lucky the average person is not going to be able to eat that amount of spinach. So if you are looking for a spinach [00:15:00] product, make sure it's an extract standardized 4X milligrams of eight, you know XD stare.
[00:15:09] Yeah, it has to be standardized. Obviously Rob. I don't hear you. Talk much about taking creatine. Do you do you still take creatine? And what's your position on Creatine in general? I do but it's not as cut and dry as you think okay. So after my creatine kinase and creatinine and Adventures the clue is in the name excess creatine can convert to the waste product create.
[00:15:37] And while that usually isn't problematic in people, it certainly can be especially in people like me in throwing creatinine values and the doctor even acknowledge this he said are you taking creatine? I said, well I am. But it is not the creatine that converts the creatinine kind of scratch his head a little bit but [00:16:00] long story short, it can make kidney function look a lot worse right than it really is and so for those for those reasons and.
[00:16:10] I only use kre alkalyn or creatine hydrochloride. I use creatine hydrochloride in progenitors Rex for that. Very reason. It's extremely efficient. Creatine is a great supplement. Okay, it does many wonderful things but you know excess creatine even in an otherwise healthy body. It's probably not a good thing.
[00:16:37] Just no one. That if creatine monohydrate bloats you I suspect that has a lot to do with right the hydrate part of monohydrate and excess water retention some guys even get like moonface really bad and while young kids that are underweight might see [00:17:00] the scale go. That excess water can work against you two.
[00:17:04] Okay, and specifically I'm thinking about in your pound-for-pound strikes. You're going to find that your chin ups and your dips and your other body weight exercises, especially handstand push-ups. It's murder on those. It's not helping you at all. So I would tell you especially if you're into any amount of body weight work and chin-ups at a minimum, you know, you should be.
[00:17:31] I would steer clear from creatine mono. The other alternative is you have to give up bodyweight work and that's some of the most authentic purest resistance exercise that there is I want I wouldn't want to give that up on any level and it's especially important for me now going forward. It's really important if you think about.
[00:17:57] For long-term joint health [00:18:00] to that's look at that should be a consideration your joints only have so many heavy lifts in them. No one understand that and know it going in. So those are you know, look bottom line. Use kre alkalyn or creatine hydrochloride. It's a much more honest, I think gain, And it won't leave you right when when the offending compound does you come off creatine you're going to lose those if you gained 10 pounds You're Gonna Lose most of those 10 pounds.
[00:18:35] and pretty quickly, so my friend Alex were. Yeah, who listens to the show also has given up training because he EO he was a monster. I mean, he's been a monster for a long time and he was always all about the heavyweight heavyweight, but he's. he switched up to body weight work [00:19:00] and band work, you know, he has one of these and there's quite a few of them out there now, but they're there it's like a bar or.
[00:19:09] With bands and you can do curls and you could do presses x 3 bar makes 143 x bar. What do you think about band type devices incorporating that into bodyweight work to create the resistance training effects without the weight. That's that's hurting. Your joints dams are tricky and I'll tell you why.
[00:19:37] Bands are particularly hard on the body the first time you try to move a barbell with bands. You'll be all over the place you be shaking like a leaf though, the central nervous system will learn and it'll get better but. A healthy amount of band work in me always resulted in [00:20:00] a lot of Dom's delayed onset muscle soreness, but now you know that we're talking about no weights at all.
[00:20:06] Just bands alone, right? Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Okay. Yeah, and and so. I would tell you this I would tell you to try it. I would do it for three weeks. Weeks and at the end of three weeks. I think you would have a decent gauge on whether or not this is something that's making you stronger bigger stronger.
[00:20:32] And importantly not at the expense of your connective tissues tendons and ligaments with heavy band work and I've only used them with barbells. So, you know take this for what it's worth that always. It took its toll let me put it like that, you know pipe it's possible that if you're just using the band and nothing else that it's easier on the connective tissues, [00:21:00] but that's not something that I've tried not so much right?
[00:21:03] Let's go. I'm sorry. Have you ever done? Yeah. I have one of those you know. I like the way they feel because the. resistance progresses in a linear fashion as opposed to weights which are affected by their position against gravitational forces, you know, so I like them you're right that they work you hard they work you really really hard.
[00:21:35] It's not like oh. I'm going to take off for a while from weights and use bands because it's easier. It's not easier. It's not easier but it is better for your joints, but it puts a lot more stress I think on the muscles, but it's interesting. I may actually start trying to use I have one of those 3 x bars at home.
[00:21:56] I may actually I'm getting inspired by Alex to start using it [00:22:00] more. It's worth it's worth a try. You know, everything's worth the try. Yeah, we're going to take a quick commercial break. We've got plenty more questions. [00:22:17] Learn it before everybody else stay tuned.
[00:22:23] So, you know, I'm darker than ever right now. Yeah, I mean, I'm really dark I've been laying out. I laid out this weekend a few days and it was 90 something degrees. I when I was laying out and I I get dark so fast and you know, you've talked about cat kathas anthon you've talked about bronze organic.
[00:22:47] Do you really think that they're that effective or you just favoring John because I know you and John are good friends and you kind of in business together on some things. No. No this [00:23:00] the short answer to the question is I have no vested interest in bronze organic and thousands and now we're I do have a vested interest and I do get a commission is on simple Jen and Tranquility, but let me get back to.
[00:23:16] 2010 because this is really important. My wife almost bought a quote-unquote can pheasants and she saw an online 1990 tabs for around 25 bucks. That's cheap. Yeah. Who's that? That's good. That's it. Then. Is it very expensive antioxidant very very expensive. Be in bronze organic. So, you know 50 bucks for 60 capsules capsules, but upon for further inspection of this product this product she was about to buy it contain beta-carotene astaxanthin.
[00:23:59] Cocoa powder [00:24:00] LT Racine. Why do they put in cocoa powder and 10,000 and I know why because it looks like 10,000 then know this actually it doesn't well. Dark, and you know people look at it and they see that color. They think oh that must be the camp as anthon. Yeah, it's can't faster than in fact was the last ingredient in this prop blend almost certainly very little if any of it and while I don't have that product on hand and I wish I was on Facebook live because I've got an imposter product.
[00:24:36] Called Sun bronze and I actually texted you a picture of this. I took two tablets of some bronze crush them into a fine powder and all it. Looks like is Coco. Bronze organic on the other hand comes in a clear capsule and contains only [00:25:00] can fasten and real can Thousand Seven as you would see if I can show you these kind of like a cot.
[00:25:07] It's almost a copper color copper gold color. Some people describe it, you know as a reddish-brown very dark reddish brown, which is the color of real can thousands of it is my opinion. And I bet good money on this that there is no can't thousands in in the Imposter tablet if there's really 30 milligrams in there.
[00:25:32] There should be should be some deep reddish brown color. There is none which tells me tells me the product is a fraud. If you follow my Facebook page, I did a post on this actually some months back and I might repost it. And again, you know, I just emptied two capsules of bronze organic and put them right next to to crushed some bronze tablets.
[00:25:57] Look here's the bottom line [00:26:00] if there's another real pure Camp Bastion sent out there in a capsule. I haven't seen it and I've looked long and hard. I would tell you not to waste your money on bogus Brands by the quality campus in the same way. You would buy quality acting as an educated consumer.
[00:26:22] It's a very very sad situation. He told me he mentioned this off-the-cuff the other day that bronze organic was his top-selling item, which is really saying something and yes, it's summer but you know the stuff. And it works really well a lot of Television personalities some of which you may know use it actors, etc.
[00:26:49] Etc. And it's just a high quality product. Now, I will say this you're of Italian descent. Correct, correct. So you just said it, you [00:27:00] know you tan just fine. I am Polish. And what was your check and unfortunately, I'm as white naturally as a gallon of milk. But if I just take two of these tablets with food a day every day, I can go out onto the beach lay out all day with no sunblock and not burn.
[00:27:28] Or peel for any of that. I remember before trying that without it and all I did was burn and peel the only thing that ultimately Tandra my legs, but that's not saying much. So look, there's an old saying right by Cheap by twice. You can either learn the hard way or get the good stuff and and I would tell you that NASA has the good stuff if I find.
[00:27:54] Another Outlet that's selling the good stuff. I'll tell you that too. But I think [00:28:00] you'll find if you do your own searches. You're not going to find it. You know, whenever you see these expensive compounds and you start to see some of these cheaper prices you have to ask yourself. I think a lot of people don't care.
[00:28:15] I think a lot of people just they they don't mind being lied to I agree a hundred percent. It's a hundred it's unfortunately what camp hasn't been and the Imposter products. You will literally get burned for the experience. That's a good one. Right when you get out in the sun. You're right. So some people buy supplements at.
[00:28:38] And some of them are name-brand things but a lot of them usually like be products, you know, I mean, like level a level be not bumblebee. You think people should trust and buy supplements at Walmart generally speaking. You do not want to be buying many of your staple products at Walmart. [00:29:00] There are such a big store.
[00:29:01] They turn over so fast wouldn't their products be fresher. Well, there are some exceptions. Options, but let me leave give you. An example the last place you should be buying protein is Walmart. Okay, their brands are dominated by low quality way and I was in there the other day. I was like Body Fortress that they carry that's one of the products they carry right?
[00:29:27] Sixth our body. Yeah, you know and upon doing just a little bit of digging. Without exception all of the protein products that I enquired about were heated into Oblivion denaturing the protein into a cross-linked mess. Now your stomach will tell you as much you're going to have a lot of apps shortly after drinking one of these you have a lot of bloating you're going to have a lot of gas in the disc tended stomach and that's after just one serving [00:30:00] for that matter those of you that are allergic to weigh like myself.
[00:30:06] Will notice it Pronto. Okay, I take a scoop of that stuff and my nose gets so stuffed up. I can't breathe not even close and I can tell you that plenty of other Cheapo ways like ice up yours old in my gym those stuff me up, too. There's a reason. Right you three pounds of that stuff retails online for 45 bucks.
[00:30:34] It's garbage. It is garbage. I do not get stuffed up or any allergic reaction from Thrive due to the fact that it's extremely high quality. I can do a scoop of that and 30 minutes later. I can breathe through my nose justify. There are no obstructions. Price quite frankly shouldn't be an issue because I was just [00:31:00] thinking that it's $59 for a 3-pound jug and that's include shipping inside the United States when you say this is 45, that's not far away.
[00:31:08] Oh my God, it's look Thrive really does have everything you need and then so okay. We know the high-quality. Whey casein mix that's been proven over and over and studies as the best for muscle growth. Extra you also get the extra essential amino acid, which are my huge fan of probiotics you get bifidobacteria, which is now coming for to the front and being as we aged bifida starts to disappear and it's linked to a variety of different age Related Disorders.
[00:31:43] You got you got you got enzymes in there to help you break down the protein and the carbohydrates. I mean you got vitamin D to vitamin d and vitamin A because vitamin A. Important for the retina retinal X receptor which is part of the anabolic response to [00:32:00] protein. Yeah, and the list just goes on and on it keeps getting right.
[00:32:05] I told everyone last week but it Bears repeating look on the back of Thrive label. It doesn't say nutrition facts, like most proteins. It says supplement facts what that means is / FDA regulations a product protein that goes through. Whether supplement facts panel is in compliance with the law and has to go through about a hundred more quality checkpoints that a product that reads nutrition facts.
[00:32:36] You know, they're actually out of compliance with the FDA. Unfortunately, the FDA doesn't have resources to go after all, but okay, so that's what that's the story on protein you use code right is still code compare. It is but you know, so so our server just moved we just hold [00:33:00] on a second. I'm actually someone emailed me yesterday about this and I just checked to see if it was fixed yet.
[00:33:06] So the Thrive protein.com website is down and it's because we just moved our service our servers to a new Data Center and I don't think they updated our. Our registrar account with the new IP address and I'm actually I'm literally texting an email to my admin to say Thrive protein.com is still down.
[00:33:35] Yeah. Well, hopefully it gets back up soon that look folks. That's where you should be buying your protein is to it's a no-brainer. Okay. Yeah. Now there are I mentioned that there were a few items you might want to Avail yourself to. A couple Walmart makes a very reasonably priced green tea fat burner.
[00:33:57] I think it's the name of it and it's [00:34:00] standardized for 400 milligrams of egcg. Okay the active ingredient in green tea and what's been shown to be responsible for all of its fat burning and health enhancing properties. Now, there's a little bit of caffeine in there too along with you're going to see a list of adaptogens.
[00:34:19] So which are only in their window dressing amounts. So look, let's let's be honest about this. You're buying the product for it CG CG content. Not really anything else. When it gets the turmeric and curcumin the situation is at least up here, really really. They keep changing up their turmeric curcumin formula not always in a good way.
[00:34:45] Here's what I'm talking about. They were carrying a product 60 capsules five hundred fifty milligrams and 500 milligrams of that. We're standardized for 20% curcuminoids claiming up to [00:35:00] 46% better absorption. Okay, and along with that you got 50 milligrams of turmeric powder that comes out to a hundred milligrams of.
[00:35:09] Mobile curcuminoids with respect to the 46 times better absorption. It contains something called povidone, which is an abbreviation. Wait a minute povidone is a is an antimicrobial. Well, apparently it's also being used by the pharmaceutical industry. For this pretty OVO Dio any right? POV? I Dio any.
[00:35:40] Yap over down povidone is a form of iodine. Apparently it's being used for dispersing and suspending drugs. I don't know about 46 times better absorption, but. They might have an angle there, you know, I know yeah, so here it is. A povidone [00:36:00] is used as a pharmaceutical by the pharmaceutical industry as a synthetic polymer vehicle for dispersing and suspending drugs.
[00:36:06] It also acts as a dis integrins point and a tablet binder. It appears as off-white. Two white hygroscopic powder in its pure form and is readily soluble in water but it's also called polyvinyl pyrrolidone, which you obviously nobody wants take anything that has the word is polyvinyl in it. Right?
[00:36:33] Nobody wants to eat me. Yeah, unless you want to start chewing on beach balls in the afternoon, but it is it is an iodine. It's a it has the Ido any suffix on it. Yeah, well, I don't think I want that even if it does increase 46% bioavailability. Yeah the world that was the product. They worse were selling more recently there [00:37:00] selling a 500 milligram 90 capsule count product which consists of 400 milligrams of turmeric powder 50 milligrams of turmeric extract standardized for 95% curcuminoids.
[00:37:15] At 50 milligrams of Ginger now if my math is right that would give you forty seven and a half milligrams of curcuminoids or less than half of the other formula despite looking like right. It looking like it's stronger also note that this formula does not contain right the povidone or even by 04 in which you'll likely see in there.
[00:37:42] So it's questionable in my mind whether or not these 47 and 1/2 milligrams is really getting absorbed. So they'll listen to this. I'm on pubchem the government's are chemical website. [00:38:00] Povidone is an iodine ated poly vinyl polymer, which means it's a plastic. Okay used as a topical antiseptic in surgery.
[00:38:10] That's why I used it povidone was put all over my foot before the surgery. For skin and mucous membrane infections also can be used as an aerosol the iodine maybe radio labeled for research purposes. So this is a this is a combination of iodine and poly vinyl polymer poly vinyl polymer just for the hell of it.
[00:38:33] Just just let's expand on this right. I mean poly vinyl polymer is. A as a plastic but here's the interesting thing about this. So I was looking at when I scratch my I was looking at lubricants like I drop lubricants. Yeah, they put poly vinyl polymer in I lubricants. I'm gonna literally and it smells I opened the bottle up in Walgreens [00:39:00] and I took the cap off and I just squirted the air and my nose.
[00:39:03] I swear to God. It smells like a beach ball. I'm not lying to you. To say that like for poly vinyl polymer is plastic. So they're putting this in your supplements and you're eating it. Really and what do and what do we know about Plastics almost all of them are endocrine disruptors almost all of them look like estrogen or androgens or thyroid hormone or some other hormone almost all of them.
[00:39:32] And so poly vinyl polymer must be the same thing. Poly vinyl polymer is a group of polymers derived from Vinyl monomers. It's it's friggin. It's the same stuff that was on your on your roof in the 70s on your Monte Carlo. That's it was you're taking it putting it in your mouth now swallowing it.
[00:39:49] Just eat a beach to see the beach ball. Just get it over with well if that wasn't confusing enough they once we're [00:40:00] carrying or to America. Human featuring BCM 95 the absorption enhancer, you know, I guess they got tired of paying for that privilege maybe and today's product the 90 capsule bottle. I consider almost inert if you if you if you have that product on hand.
[00:40:22] And you still want to use the ticket with some fat, you know, that that should help someone and I had a guy who Imports the best curcumin in the world from India. He's Indian and he came on my show and said the reason that curcumin is so and turmeric is so well absorbed in India is we don't take it in a capsule we cook with it.
[00:40:46] And usually it's with with fat, you know, there are oils and stuff mixed. And that is what makes you absorb it. So just take your curcumin or your turmeric with a fatty meal along with your vitamin D and your vitamin [00:41:00] A. That's it. Yeah, I've long recommended I curcumin is the first ingredient in.
[00:41:07] And while we do use the benzos by operon, which in three separate Studies have shown, you know an increase in oral absorption in humans up to 2,000 percent and slow its excretion. I tell guys to take it with a fat Annie. Because I had heard the same thing about how it is traditionally prepared and therefore bioavailable understand curcumin has horrible oral bioavailability something on the order of two to three percent.
[00:41:42] Okay? I get my campus or my my campus until I get my curcumin in that product along with. Ashwagandha and Rhodiola and astaxanthin and 5-HTP it is [00:42:00] we use a product that is standardized for all four curcuminoids. You will read that there are three, but in fact there are really four and you'll see it in your blood work if you provided you've been taking it for a few weeks.
[00:42:15] Before the blood is drawn. So here's the bottom line on supplements of all Mark. I might buy egcg there. You can buy ephedrine right behind the counter as primatene. You might want to consider Walmart acid reducer AKA Tagamet. So I met design hydrochloride, which I've gone over for as an appetite suppressant before and they also sell a jet alert caffeine product.
[00:42:47] You get 90 200 milligram tabs for something stupid like three dollars and forty three sets that will pair nicely with the egcg and the ephedrine. Otherwise, I would not touch [00:43:00] supplements. Well our and I would particularly steer clear of MuscleTech six star, which I think MuscleTech bought and the other one.
[00:43:10] I forget what it was Body Fortress. Oh Mike O'Hearn who is a friend of the show used to be the spokesperson for Body Fortress. And when you would go to the Olympia the Arnold Body Fortress would have a huge end I'll booth. Where people would come in and literally line up for days to take pictures with Mike and then Body Fortress got called on the carpet for failed label claims.
[00:43:38] This is probably about five years ago. I want to say maybe maybe longer maybe even five or six years ago and. And Mike left them as a result of that. So yeah, Body Fortress is from what I mean unless they've changed everything and they've really tightened up their act. You know, it's a low quality product and it's cheap because it's low quality in [00:44:00] 2009 when I wrote the original blueprint.
[00:44:02] I emailed Body Fortress about their way and. To what extent it was heated and I forget the exact number and degrees. I mean, they cook that stuff into Oblivion would destroyed all of the naturally occurring way fractions, right? Immunoglobulins, etc. Etc. It's a dead product. Don't buy it. Yeah, again, a lot of these products that are Commodities exactly what they you expect them to be.
[00:44:33] You know, they're low quality. We're going to take a quick commercial. When we come back, we're going to talk about you moving back into bodyweight training. How's that sound? Stay tuned. We'll be right back. Welcome back.
[00:44:48] so we know your doctor told you like no training at all and he did say. that you would thinking about embarking on body weight training only. [00:45:00] You didn't do any training for 10 weeks. Well, the honest answer is I did I did one time I'm telling you doctor. I'm calling right now and tell him ratting you out.
[00:45:12] I did one thing but it was very limited. So to keep my sanity. I need to be making some progress somewhere. Okay in the wait. And so I decided to get back into handstand push-ups, right? Because at the end of the day, you know, why did why go to the gym if you're not making progress on something?
[00:45:39] the caveat though is this. I had long been out of practice when you know for doing them. And the last time I could knock off two sets of 12. I was around 220 pounds. I'm around 240 now, although I'm trying to to lose now and I'll get into that later, [00:46:00] but I started very simply with I went out and I bought a.
[00:46:06] For those interlocking foam map for about a quarter inch right quarter inch high each one and once a week. I did one or two sets Okay of as many reps as I could simply removing 111 pad a week and sure enough last last week even that to 40-ish. I'm now able to do full handstand push-ups again.
[00:46:35] Seriously enough my severe arthritis and my right elbow. It does not bother it. I suspect it might though with reps over. Let's say five, but you know so far so good. I do not think it adversely affected my kidney values. I told you they're normal now [00:47:00] nor do I think you delayed the recovery any and I mean think about it if I can't do you know three to one or two sets of three to five reps a handstand pushup?
[00:47:12] If that causes rhabdo, I'm really in trouble. Okay, but the blood work shows I'm back to normal. My creatinine was one point to the upper end of the range was 1.35. Okay, the only bad set of labs that I got back and it really set me back quite a bit interestingly enough was running for a mile. And when I say run for a mile, I mean at a pretty good clip.
[00:47:43] Okay, I ran the fits on the treadmill. I set it at the appropriate speed and for me at the end of that mile, I was toast I mean, you know the last two minutes I couldn't catch my breath [00:48:00] when I was done. I sat down and I stayed down for probably 20 minutes. Just dealing with it. So I was out of cardiovascular shape why I decided to do this.
[00:48:14] I can't remember. I guess I felt it'd be a good idea but it took a lot out of me and it was much more than I should have done. But I figured it's just cardio right? It's that way training, you know, it can't possibly set me back wrong the result. Was that Mike. Batman which had been heading down?
[00:48:38] Okay, and what they were looking at the gauge kidney function its spikes from like 1.5 to 1.89. Okay. And again the upper end of the range is 1.35 my CK also shot up from around a thousand I think to [00:49:00] 1600 wherever the upper end of the range is 200 and it was at that moment. That my PCP looked at me and he said I'm sending you to a kidney specialist.
[00:49:11] So, you know know this intense cardio to can re CK levels and those that are yes, you know subject to it and the it makes your kidneys work harder in the process process. Now after that, the only thing I did on the treadmill was walk but here's the thing. Lately, I've been hitting the heavy bag almost every day and I absolutely love it.
[00:49:42] You know and I would encourage you if your gym as a heavy bag. Try it sometime. I want you to throw punches, you know, kicks knees elbows head. Try doing that for five minutes. It is some of the most tiring cardio that you will ever [00:50:00] do. Okay, and here's the thing that did not seem to throw my CK you're creating it levels and and I was released at that the simple Act of keeping your hands up right to protect your head is incredibly tiring and taxing, you know, go ahead and try it, you know strike that bad continuously.
[00:50:22] For just five minutes. Well, keeping your gloves and your non striking have up around your temples, right your shoulders. At least my shoulders. They were burning far worse than any shoulder exercise. I can remember really yeah, it was incredible and it made me really appreciate these guys right in the old days.
[00:50:44] They'd go what twelve sixteen rounds some crazy like that and and I simply. And every week by, you know adding another minute, I'm up to about 10 minutes of continuous striking and I got to tell you [00:51:00] it is completely exhausting, but think about what you're you're doing you're not just getting cardio.
[00:51:07] You're kind of getting your game down. If you ever need to go at it with someone, you know, that's a big deal. That is a big deal. It is I mean, you know, it's a crazy world and full of crazy people and someday you might need to do that. So, you know being in fight shape is quite a different thing than being in treadmill Shake.
[00:51:30] So long after a treadmill shape, that's funny. Yeah. I'm you'd I am going to treadmill you those are the things that I did to remain saying during these 10 weeks of no exercise. And like I said, I'm just awaiting my creatine kinase levels your mileage may vary everyone is different, but that's what I.
[00:51:54] That's what I did when I have to take off a long period of time I'm like you I just don't feel good. I actually develop muscle [00:52:00] aches from not training as opposed to most people who get muscle aches from training you get depressed. Yeah, of course, I do. I feel like crap. I don't. Yep. So you can imagine how it's folk done for 10 weeks outside of it and we could be a hollow.
[00:52:15] Maybe that's a long time. I mean, even when I had my surgeries I was back in the gym like days. I train my upper body. I couldn't train my lower body. I'm just starting to train my lower body now and I'm starting to see some small progress, but it's going to take time really is wow your blueprint tip of the day.
[00:52:37] Yeah, it's a get the trip down memory lane. I just want to throw something in there before you start talking about it. So I talked to Randy wrote yesterday about an unrelated subject and I asked him if he'd had heard from Mars. Because I model is done completely radio silent real he doesn't respond to my emails anymore.
[00:52:57] And I actually got worried and [00:53:00] Randy said, you know, he thinks that Morrow has just been very tied up. He thinks that Marlo's wife Bonnie may have had. Reoccurrence of her breast cancer he's in town. He thought that and he thought that that might be why Morrow is and then he goes to me and you no morals in his late 70s and you know, I forget that I always forget that, you know, maybe he just doesn't wanna be bothered with this stuff anymore.
[00:53:25] I don't know could be he was my first guest. So the very first guest the very first interview I ever did that third week of November in 2005. Was dr. Marr dipasquale about his and about diet book and how he devised it from an evolutionary observation that Youmans eight in phases. They they they didn't eat for periods of time.
[00:53:52] They did eat for periods of time and they leverage ketones. Yeah, more of the great thinker and that [00:54:00] was a great choice for first. Guess that's for yeah, right. I mean man, but this one this one's a trip down memory lane. He's not as famous for this book, but he wrote one called the bodybuilding supplement review and I thought we'd look at it, right 25 years later.
[00:54:18] Was it Off the Mark or was it ahead of its time? So I'm rummaging around, you know, the my mysterious black box the other day and I came across this book. It was first published in 1995. I can still recall the day it arrived. They were selling it as a package. I think in the anabolic diet and is bodybuilding supplement review and they were right at my doorstep.
[00:54:45] I got home and I could I just tore right into them and I had it was a long day at work, but I was suddenly energized when I saw at the time he was working closely with Leo Costa [00:55:00] a big beyond belief, and he did not if I'm not mistaken did not have a son. But mind of his own unlike EAS and other companies that were publishing supplement reviews.
[00:55:12] He was this close to an independent voice in that field as you could get at that time. He really was and so given that it's been 25 years almost since its publication. I thought it'd be fun to revisit some what his thumbs-up and thumbs-down recommendations were because that's how we gave him. Up first in his book where adaptogens ginseng pants Akron mummy tribest Ananda keister own those were all covered and in general.
[00:55:44] They were given a question mark. He also included a question mark in the status and most received a thumbs-down reading. A question mark on a few being right only a glimmer of hope there was a [00:56:00] particularly in-depth right up on equity. Where he gave it a double thumbs down and he also Pandit in his monthly muscle mag column.
[00:56:09] He used to write a column for them. I don't know if he still does which I was Keen to read every month. So I found that ironic given years later. He produced a product called testable. Which had at least their own ingredient panel the most recent human studies that I talked about earlier in the show showing that it works and should be added to the banned list.
[00:56:36] Even I would love to know his opinion today. He seems to have come around on adaptogens. He had a I don't know if he still has this product, but he had one called renew and that had ginseng Rhodiola. Shoes Andhra and ashwagandha amongst others. In fact, he spoke quite highly of adaptogens more [00:57:00] recently and I was grateful to see that.
[00:57:02] Other than that. He was very big on antioxidant supplementation in that book. I think you'll agree. The research on the antioxidants is confusing at best now. Some studies showing it wiped out the Adaptive effective exercise other so, you know, what's funny about that? I've been trying to get Mike O'Hearn to use his name twice in one show on Superman radio.
[00:57:31] He recently had a baby. Mike has been taking 10 grams of vitamin C A Day for decades decades. I don't know and I don't care people say drugs not drugs either vitamin C is supposed to in interrupt mitochondrial adaptation to exercise and it's supposed to keep you from making gains. But clearly it's not doing that for Mike.
[00:57:55] No, it's. Creatine got a double thumbs up [00:58:00] as did caffeine ephedra glycerol hydroxycitric acid BCAAs and omega-3 fatty acids. It was his right up on amino acids, though. That was really you know, it really shined no other category in his book received such attention and no other had as many double thumbs-up ratings.
[00:58:26] Druggie athlete so under his potential amino acid formulas. He had this to say he said combinations of Okay, g glutamine, the branched-chain amino acids, especially loosing branched-chain keto acids and acetyl L-Carnitine would likely be the best anabolic / anti catabolic mixtures available to the body.
[00:58:52] He also stated that a combination of one or more of the following substances creatine monohydrate [00:59:00] phosphate or creatine phosphate along with arginine lysine and methionine which are aminos required. For the synthesis of creatine would also be useful in increasing training stamina and work load capacity looking back at it.
[00:59:18] Someone was paying attention and that someone would have been MuscleTech when they would soon launch their first of three products, right? They originally had three and they almost perfectly mirrored his. Those being Hydroxycut their fat burner a seat a bowline their test booster and a product called creatine.
[00:59:41] 6,000 e-s, right. Look, I think the books historical significance. Lies and at the time it was published right before right the era of prohormone hysteria that gripped Our Little World from 96 to [01:00:00] 2005 and during that time some of the most promising natural antibiotics. Like I'll call it things like essential aminos and adaptogens of others those all took a backseat.
[01:00:14] Nobody wanted to talk about that stuff when we had methyl 1 on the market, right? Which brings us to today. What significance does the book have and have there been any real breakthrough since the Andro era ended? In all honesty the industry for all these years since then has been searching for the next big thing.
[01:00:38] I would tell you that. at the Ft stare own study. that I mentioned should set off a wave of XE sterile like products that. Are formulated really and [01:01:00] truly to be anabolic now, it won't be the insane pound of water a day that you gained with methyl 1 test. But but something more realistic right five pounds in ten weeks was what that study showed along with profound and significant increases in their one rep max bench strength.
[01:01:20] Those are the researchers words by the way, not mine. I suspect true Innovation is going to come from smaller companies that have survived for a decade or longer. There's not a lot of those around there might be new Delivery Systems to device or improve their up taking utilization extend their duration of action.
[01:01:44] I don't know I saw some of this coming with synth engine when I built its formula around what you know, the essential amino. And an adaptogen targeting its use in and around the work out because in this is [01:02:00] worth mentioning. It's during that time in the round the workout that supplements can act like drugs.
[01:02:07] Okay, otherwise supplements don't act like drugs drugs act like drugs, but you do have a Magic Window there that last for up to two hours post workout now, I can't speak for other companies. We'll be focusing, you know on some areas that are I think are currently under served some of the ingredients.
[01:02:30] I've been experimenting with are out there now, but some I've dug up or pretty unique. Dr. Dee was on the right track when he woke this book. realizing and I think he said this in the book Mother Nature holds all the locks and the keys and and so that message isn't as sexy as a you know, new stimulant that blows your mind, you know or an anabolic that does all the work for you [01:03:00] but it is the way forward in my opinion on many levels we.
[01:03:06] Gone far at all from 25 years ago when creatine was knew that doesn't mean you need to settle for subpar results, you know septage in progenitor X these are products that work unquestionably. It's not like you take them in the I think they're working. It was like yeah that really delivers but to those companies that might be listening.
[01:03:34] All it takes is some creative thought a basic understanding of some of the body functions and to focus on that nutraceutical timing to deliver results. And and that latter Point can't be overstated whether you're talking about sensation during the workout and a scoop of Thrive immediately after it's been said timing is everything in life [01:04:00] and such is the case to with supplements.
[01:04:03] So. I would tell you it's time to ditch the shotgun approach clean out your cabinets. Take a fresh look at what works what doesn't and then move forward, you know time will tell but if moral if Morrow's prior works are any indication, you know, what sold may be new again. And this time the smart money is that it will be sticking around for a long long time unless the powers that be decide to remove it and.
[01:04:38] and frankly the way excuse Tehran was shown to work both in humans and in the test tube. Is not through the antigen receptor, it is not testosterone like it is through the estrogen receptor. The way the steroid Control Act is written. They're going to have a [01:05:00] very tough time. I think remove I think it's also through the retinoid X receptor.
[01:05:04] If I remember could I remember doing a show with Chuck? Can't they Chuck last name? But he was working for Mark lobe liner when Mark had Prima force and he had introduced an equity product that was called like a cannibal in. Or something like that antigen something else. Yeah, and and I did the research before the interview and I seem to remember the retinoid X receptor before I was even paying attention to vitamin A.
[01:05:38] So, let's just see something XD Ste. Rona retinoid X receptor NIH was it not shown that humans have those receptors. Oh, yeah, we do. Preceptors but soda bugs. So let's see his scholarly articles on Active Star on hand league and specific specificity development experience [01:06:00] rxr. Here we go retinoid X receptor sequence alignment.
[01:06:05] I have to read through these but there's looks like there's quite a few studies that come up from that are fairly old. Yeah fairly. Oh, I hope the industry does the right thing and launches a whole new. You know line of quality XD products. I have a bad feeling though history is going to repeat itself and you're going to see a lot of low quality XD products derived from sign otesaga and other inferior sources and it's going to get a bad rep again, which is why I went out of the way.
[01:06:42] Earlier in the showed to tell you where I get my XD and I consider the best you can buy. Yeah, but yeah, there is there is at this it's called the active Zone receptor and the retinoid X receptor both play a role in the effects [01:07:00] of act I stare own interesting. I remember that from so many years ago because that's when the whole retinoid X receptor became interesting to me.
[01:07:10] And a lot of This research is done on creatures with exoskeletons like crabs and locusts because that's where the whole acting thing came from. It came from Bugs. It was like, holy crap bugs grow so fast and they tend to grow so strong so quickly and they isolated it down to the equities own receptor that was being stimulated and that's where the whole Expedition.
[01:07:39] Something came into play it was remember we when it was first talked about 15 16 years ago. It was what was the bug hormone remember and it was a big surprise that the yes humans to yeah. Well, I mean, it's quite possible that works through multiple mechanisms. [01:08:00] I mentioned the estrogen receptor only because in the study that I'm referring to human one, they proved that not only in humans.
[01:08:10] They ran the parallel test tube study showing that it worked through the estrogen E2 recep, right? It's probably it's probably stimulating. All listen estrogen is anabolic. Anybody who? To make Fina make you tremble own injectable Trend ballon from Fina pellets back in the day knows from the early research on cattle that if you gave a cow fin aplex, it could gain 30 or 40 pounds of muscle in six weeks easily faster, but when you gave it Trend ballon plus estradiol benzoate it would gain twice that.
[01:08:54] Amount of muscle in the same six weeks which means that estradiol is [01:09:00] anabolic and people don't get that. They think oestrogen it's bad. You know, you gotta take a eyes. It's no good for you. You know it estrogen estrogen is just as important for men as it is for women. Was it for Novak's that have the estrogen and it's.
[01:09:17] Sit over X. I remember that name maybe that was the other one. It could be that could have been the pellets that had the estrogen benzoate in it. Yes. It was so Novak's yes, I never used it. But I remember reading recipes for how to remove the estrogen. Yes, right because guys couldn't get fit applic.
[01:09:35] So they were using sonova X and then they would have to go through this long. Arduous approach to actually remove the estrogen from it. That's right. There was there was there was recipes on bodybuilding Forums on how to do that. I never fooled with that because I thought what if there's still some I mean look estradiol benzoate in the doses that has been given to cattle is not good for humans, [01:10:00] right?
[01:10:00] It's not like, oh great. We'll take that to we're gonna become more muscular. But with that being said, there are a lot of guys that were using that sin of X and they were moving. Estrogen but I was always worried that what if I don't get it all out. Yeah, and so I just found places that sold straight finna Plex and I use that it was very easy to make Trend ballon from finna Flex, which is so easy.
[01:10:24] It was stupid easy transdermal Czar ingestion both both both. I mean because what you did was you took your Fender Plex you soaked it in ether. in a jar with a with a. Fuel filter on top so that the air could escape and you didn't use a lot of ether probably about a half inch of ether you dropped your pellets in there.
[01:10:49] And you waited overnight the next morning there would be a lot less liquid and it would be all yellow and then you would run it through. The [01:11:00] coffee filter that was on the jar and then run it through one or two more coffee filters to remove any more of the excipient the the fiber the binders and you would end up with this clear yellow almost urine colored liquid and then you would put a coffee thing on top of that a coffee filter on top of that and then you would wait until it all evaporated and all you'd be left with is the yellow powder and then that yellow.
[01:11:28] Otto was easily scraped off the bottom of the jar and put into you could put it directly into oil grapeseed oil. You can add some benzyl alcohol and some benzyl benzoate to keep it from from separating. You put it in individual vials, you know, you had to do the math and figure out it was a hundred milligrams per milliliter and then you'd put it in your oven and you would bake it at the highest temperature possible for the longest period possible to kill anything that could potentially be a.
[01:11:58] The benzyl alcohol. [01:12:00] actually was added after and the benzyl benzoate was added after you cooked it and then you would cap it or you could just drop it into flow gel Ultra and mix it around and squirt a milliliter out and rub it on your chest. However you want to do it but it's really easy. It was so easy to make Trend belong back in the day.
[01:12:20] It's just crazy and all those companies that were selling fin afflicts most of them. Weren't selling them to cattle Farmers. I know it was selling at the guys like us because they were charging stupid prices for it. They knew about what was being done with it. What did they ultimately do? Just stop carrying it?
[01:12:39] I don't know. I haven't looked for it so long I couldn't tell you it made me mad. Let's see. Let's just see something just for Giggles here Finn aplex.
[01:12:49] Pellets. Let's just see what comes up.
[01:12:56] Let's see. What comes up. Could it still be out there? I don't think so. [01:13:00] Yeah, Ben Affleck's pellets. Let's see. Wait. Wait. Wait, no no, no, no, no, nope. No Burg Animal Health. They won't sell it to you cattle implants at Lambert vet. They won't sell it to you. Here's one at drugs.com. Philip looks H.
[01:13:15] That was it for animal use you could get that looks like you can buy that. So there's still people out there selling it you get real strong real fast off it. Oh, there's nothing like tremble. Oh, yeah. That's what I always heard. I never tried it. There's nothing like I'm life, but the sides are horrible besides a horrible besides a terrible you sleeplessness sweating anxiety your heart rate goes through the roof your blood pressure goes through the roof.
[01:13:50] It's just it sides a horrible just not worried. I wouldn't try I wouldn't use it today not even in small died. I've had people email me say well. What about small doses of [01:14:00] trend and and in fate, you know because it comes in 200 milligram what if you just did 20 or 30? Rams every couple days. I wouldn't do it.
[01:14:07] It's just not worth it. It's not worth it to have a stroke or heart attack did I read correctly and has some kidney specific toxicity. I think that was for the stuff that was being home-brewed the oral tremble own, which was methyl. Either try and alone of dying alone that he was methyl try and alone.
[01:14:28] That was very toxic to the kidneys and delivers the liver the liver and the kidneys very toxic. I mean horrible horrible hepatic stress so much so that people who would take it long term would end up with like kidney tumors and liver tumors, but it was also more anabolic than the injectables well, Which was which was the one that didn't was it methyl deal.
[01:14:53] Yeah, I forget I guess so designer steroids came out with methyl. I think they came out [01:15:00] with methyl try and alone. I think methyl Diane alone is the is the horrible oral oral form of tremble on I think that's in metal try and alone was the one he came out with it. It didn't do nothing. I was taken five milligrams a day.
[01:15:14] It came in one milligram tablets because of the toxicity of its big brother. So they figured well, we this has to be, you know, one milligram should not only. You amazingly strong but also is probably powerful and hurting the liver. And I mean I was thinking five milligrams a day. I didn't feel nothing nothing from it.
[01:15:34] I remember one of those two I tried and it didn't do jack. It was a bust. It didn't work. I mean it worked in the book, right? What was the name of the book that people used to look after the anabolic right the Vitae tax, right? It worked in there. It said that it was like a hundred times more anabolic and testosterone.
[01:15:52] But it didn't work out that way.
[01:15:57] Anyway, good discussion good [01:16:00] discussion. Great show great trip down memory lane. But let's hope for a better future. Yes. I'm all for better Futures. I robbed thanks to thanks for everything today, brother. Thank you, and we'll talk to her about it tomorrow with more superhuman radio. Thank you for listening today.
