- His father: both for good and bad reasons.
- He found the forest to be healing, and his father took Erwan and his brothers there frequently.
- They were encouraged to climb rocks and trees.

- His uncle, who practiced gymnastics and spear fishing.

- We hover so much and take children out of their zone of proximal development.
- Struggle is something that must be experienced for growth to occur.
- The lack of any kind of struggle develops a lack of mental fortitude.

- It actually changes nutrient partitioning.
[45:00] Erwan does not believe that there is a difference in discipline for boys vs. girls.
- Principles are genderless.
- There are psychological differences in gender, but they are not dichotomous. The differences are a spectrum.

- Perhaps controlling emotions is the key for keeping aggression in check.
[1:05:00] How should fathers handle the stage at which his sons go through puberty?
[1:10:50] There is no toxic masculinity, only toxic values.
- Weakness is a toxic value.
[1:15:13] Talking to your child about death.
- Thinking about death is thinking about what is often viewed as “the end” of our experiences.
- You can’t fully live your life until you have made peace with your death.
[1:13:15] How do you want your children to finish the sentence,” My father was…”?
- A great man.
- Only the children will know what that actually means.
