[00:00:00] Hey, welcome back to another episode of superhuman radio. I think this is my first post surgery show. Yes. No, it's not the show. I did with dr. Jerry Jeremy. Gehrman. Was that okay. But anyway, it sure feels like it because I don't feel well this last surgery really knocked me down, but I will be back up.
[00:00:52] Anyway, we have to thank our title sponsor All American pharmaceutical EFX sports for their generous contribution to the show. [00:01:00] Right. Now you get six of the top-selling products absolutely free by going to supremum radio dinette clicking EFX Banner ad enter your name and address and you will pay five dollars for shipping, but you'll get a box of goodies.
[00:01:15] That include pre workouts protein powders. Kre-alkalyn karbolyn just all sorts of great stuff and that's because dr. Jeff golini believes that you know one should buy anything until they've tried it first and he puts his money where his mouth is. Here's another guy who puts his money where his mouth is calling all blueprint Army.
[00:01:35] Fall in line. It's time for the blueprint Power Hour with Coach Rodriguez on the Superhuman Radio Network.
[00:01:46] How you doing? Rob? Fantastic had a great workout yesterday when they have another one today. Sorry to hear about surgery. I guess I went in yesterday. I sent you a picture. Did you get it yet look at your phone and don't [00:02:00] and try not to gag on the air. Oh God, you see it. Yeah, I do. Holy God that looks like Frankenstein's Foot Right wood.
[00:02:09] And what is all that what is all that? That's the train set for Christmas does the train tracks? Oh, yeah, my foot looks so messed up man, but I went in yesterday for surgery yesterday was my one week checkup, and we did X-rays and he said it work. Good, everything looks good. The foots going to be stable.
[00:02:30] I'll be able to walk and Jog and maybe even run again on it. I'll definitely be able to do elliptical machine work and all that sort of stuff walking is really the big thing for me. I just want to be able to walk without pain. Right, but he said it looks really good. I have another one week follow a two week follow up next right after Christmas, but I so yesterday I went in and I asked him I says, dr.
[00:02:54] Childress I can I can I still go to the gym and training up a body because I think a lot of the reason I feel [00:03:00] so bad because I haven't been in the gym in over a week ago and he said no. He said give me one more week. He says because I don't want you he goes, you know, you're going to train up a body he says but if you start doing rowing movement, you're going to plant your feet.
[00:03:15] And even if you plant your heel you're going to tighten those muscles up and he said also your blood pressure is going to go up and I don't know what that's going to do to the foot. One more week in the grand scheme of things isn't I'm tell you I don't know if I feel the way I feel because I'm 60 and I just had two surgeries and Under 12 months and both of them were for effing hours on the table.
[00:03:38] The anesthesia is what I'm worried about. It's not the surgery. It's the effects of anesthesia on my body and I don't know if the way I feel right now. Is because of that because of that end I'm 60, you know, or just because I haven't been in the gym so long I feel crappy. Yeah, you know I tend to think it's the latter Lou I took [00:04:00] Saturday Sunday off.
[00:04:01] I felt like dirt. I really did yesterday. I got in there had a hard while you two hundred percent increase to my mood. Yeah. I know I'm like you so we're in the final days of the ultimate blueprint super sale that you've had going on. Right? Is it is it over yet, or is it almost over? Nope?
[00:04:19] There's a couple weeks left to closes in early January. And it is without question. My penultimate work includes new information not covered elsewhere to collectively system is worth over 2,500 bucks, but I'm letting it go for less than a tenth of that for shr. Limit listeners. So no stone is left unturned.
[00:04:42] Okay, it's training its diet. It's supplements. It's gray market products and even drugs it is all on the table even better. The first 30 people to sign up get a year subscription to the blueprint bulletin for free. That's a hundred twenty seven [00:05:00] dollar value in its own, right? Okay, and you know, so this year give yourself the gift of underground info that most people will never have so head on over to coach Rob register.com and prepared to be blown away by what you read.
[00:05:17] Okay. So the first question comes from Gerry Beyers, he says I'm taking beta alanine like you suggested haven't seen anything notable yet, but I understand it takes some time. I think you said three grams a day or can I take more? Oh, yeah, you can take a look lately. I've been I've just been taking a small Spoonful versus using the scoop will I reach saturation faster this way?
[00:05:44] Well, you know of all the supplement calls that I made on here beta alanine may be the most difficult to understand. So let's review what it is what it does and then I'll get to dosing so once ingested. They the alanine [00:06:00] combines with the essential amino acid histidine to form carnosine carnosine is an intracellular buffer, which greatly mitigates the accumulation of lactic acid, which eventually causes the muscle to stop Contracting right at which point your set terminates.
[00:06:21] There are few issues though, which need to be addressed first is that you won't really see or feel the benefits until set duration hits around the 45 seconds to 1 minute Mark and that kind of time under tension is rare. But if your objective is growth, it shouldn't be set taking anywhere from 40 40 seconds to a minute.
[00:06:44] Or more conducive to muscle growth we know and you know how few guys actually squeeze a set out for 40 seconds. I know most guys are 15 seconds in and and 45 seconds resting, right? Right. [00:07:00] So if you're using let's say a heavy light training split which I think you know is an excellent one, then it usually it sets of let's call it 15 to 20 reps will get you into that 45 seconds to a minute range or sets of eight to ten reps using five second negative.
[00:07:23] You should also start dragging a sled forward and backward for your condition. Dragging it backwards results in a searing pain burn in your quads. Once your loaded with beta alanine though it barely registers. Now I've spoken in recent weeks to how you know, beta-alanine can throw a real monkey wrench in the protein synthesis.
[00:07:45] So I won't belabor that point too much further suffice it to say. You know, you should be using it I think as a part of symptoms of formula, but be that as it may I realize some people don't have that luxury. They're [00:08:00] using bulk beta alanine. So let's talk docent a decent dose is 3 grams a day and research has looked at up to six like creatine.
[00:08:11] We can get with food will help Morgan absorb. I want to strongly caution you however about going above that level like just using a spoonful in trying to eyeball it because if you do two things can happen one even bigger amounts of histidine will be siphoned away from being used for protein synthesis and number two.
[00:08:34] You may experience an irregular heartbeat. Because when you ingest very large doses of beta alanine it can cause the excretion in displacement of touring that can show up as heart rhythm disturbances caused by electrolyte or mineral imbalances, right? If you look at let's say on the MPS label l-taurine is is included as [00:09:00] the only non-essential amino acid now, you know, one of the reasons why.
[00:09:06] To be sure this is a very real and scary effect. So, please don't eyeball or megadose your beta alanine when you're supplementing it. I'm fairly sure there have not been any studies looking at how much is too much but I wouldn't go above six grams besides any more than three grams out of whack and the research shows.
[00:09:31] It's the excesses simply Express. So yeah, hi. Hi beta alanine dosing can result in heart arrhythmias. Well, I'll tell you something else that's coming to the Forefront and I can't I can't say this unabashedly cuz I haven't read the studies, but I've told by a very reliable source a person that's supplementing with beta alanine can reduce the accumulate communication of AG.
[00:09:57] He's in the. Yeah, I've always [00:10:00] thought that has a strong anti-aging effect. And so AG he's are now being understood the for the damaging effects when they accumulate in the process of aging and if that's true of taking beta alanine could actually reduce the accumulation that is going to be a really big deal Steve Sasson stassen stassen.
[00:10:19] I'm finding it hard to afford everything. I need. Yeah join the club, bro. Between protein powders test boosters my pre-workout intra workout and others. I'm coming up short. What do you think? I absolutely need and how much should I be spending every month to be doing this supplement thing Justice.
[00:10:37] I already know what you're going to say good one of the best things you can do. Although it's almost never done is to go supplement free for a month, you know, so 30 days with no supplements at all. And from there you'll be able to tell the difference that a lot of these things are making I can tell you if you're training and diet and restaurant point, you know, [00:11:00] not much is going to suffer dramatically, but at the end of one month, you should ask yourself this question.
[00:11:07] What do I miss the most the one that was making the biggest difference the honest answer? Is usually if they have been using one their intro work out, you know, and of course, you know, I've long said flooding your body with a sensual aminos during the workout is word dollar one should go and that's because the the window workout window of opportunity.
[00:11:33] So to speak is the one place where supplements can actually act like drugs and indeed the science agrees six grams. Essential aminos prior to prior to and during training cause the 600% increase in protein synthesis versus taking nothing at all. It even trumped post-workout ingestion of those same six [00:12:00] grams, which resulted in only a 400% increase in protein synthesis the big mistake most trainees make.
[00:12:09] Is answering that question incorrectly because most will say they miss their pre-workout the most so they'll use that at the expense of an equality intra workout formula. It's a big mistake both physiologically and financially. Any pre-workout that gives you a really strong kick almost universally elevates cortisol leading to catabolism dominating.
[00:12:37] During the training session without a pre-workout in the mix. Okay. This is nothing no nutritional intervention at all cortisol starts to dominate at the 45-minute Mark starts to you know, I would shine testosterone so to speak use a pre-workout and you will see your cortisol starting to dominate [00:13:00] much earlier.
[00:13:01] So if you take the typical 90 minute workout. Conservatively speaking. If you take a strong pre workout, you'll spend half of every workout running in the red. With respect to no.2 type products. I'm not really a fan unless you're doing something like six grams of citrulline malate, which has been shown to extend exercise duration while preserving intensity levels.
[00:13:29] leading of course the greater growth stimulation one other. If you insist on the Pre-Workout thing understand caffeine is responsible for 90% of the oomph these products deliver. You can get that from generic caffeine tabs or write a strong cup of joe. I would personally much rather. See you have a strong cup of coffee plus some quality nootropics something like acetyl-l-carnitine carnitine or even better [00:14:00] Alpha GPC.
[00:14:01] You will keep cortisol and check increase your focus and be in a far better position when the workout is over to capitalize on your hard work. So I hope that helps. And you know, I would challenge anyone to go to the USA usda's food database and Anna most of us eat 11. Every week the same 11 Foods if in fact the more boring your dietary template is probably the healthier you will be with that being said has anyone ever taken the time to go to the US Food database and looked at the 11 Foods they eat and see what they're getting from their diet already before spending a nickel on any supplement.
[00:14:54] I doubt it. It's a really good Hideout. Yeah, I mean, it's just crazy. It's just crazy. But anyway, [00:15:00] we have a quick commercial break to take we'll be right back with more of the blueprint Power Hour where your questions answered by coach, Rob reddish. You can go to Coach Rob register.com to connect with him.
[00:15:08] Stay tuned. I got my left leg up on boxes. At nine o'clock. My monitor is at 12 o'clock and the automation software and computer keyboard are at 2 o'clock. So picture that picture my lumbar spine right now as I'm doing the show Johnny Gray says, I understand you're a big fan of activists are owned and use it in synth engine and projected Rex.
[00:15:36] Do you agree though that it's had its day it seems so yesterday. So why not use something more Cutting Edge in your products? I you know what? I have to opine after you're finished with this this frustrates me this this question. So the short answer is I mean just for the record just for the record testosterone sippy Nate is so yesterday.
[00:15:58] That's all I'm gonna say [00:16:00] good point the short answer Johnny is because nothing else works as well. But let's rewind a bit to give this topic some perspective. A lot of you are going to find this interesting. That's the analog have been studied extensively by the Russians since the 1940s rumor of its potential is an adaptogen started when these Russian farmers in Siberian Villages began talking about it and they called it Merrill room.
[00:16:35] They observed that the deer who ate it Meryl means dear in Russia prior No harsh Siberian Winters did much better. Then those that didn't meaning many more of them live and they held up a lot better. The Red Army was also looking for compounds that would give their fighting men that kind of edge primarily the harsh want going to Russian Winters [00:17:00] finding in Stalingrad and other major major Russian cities that were under assault after the war.
[00:17:06] They went about identifying what in the plant was responsible. The answer of course is actually steroids and there are dozens and respond to come carcinoid extract but also various tannins and resins by 1960 pharmaceutical preparation was developed and prescribed for people recovering from surgery as well as those under high levels of stress.
[00:17:35] So it wasn't long before it was standard issue even for their cosmonauts. In 1976 vn0 have identified at least four XD analogs one of those being like so urgent that work as well as activists are on but effective at a much lower milligram amount. In the United States Rick Brunner CEO of [00:18:00] Atlético formally introduced it first here around 1989 1990 in the form of some product called red ball.
[00:18:09] Not long after that a company called Amino Discounters introduced something called Meza blind, which was the first of exogenous brahmic zou discoveries, then introduced. There's a butyl which is Asuma basically sterile. It was a great product legendary product all of those put weight on you and you got a lot stronger.
[00:18:34] It's important to point out that at this point XD had a sterling reputation because of those products and then of course all sorts of inferior or water down XD stare own products flooded the market almost ruining its reputation almost. Just at that point. Arie introduced the world to extremely high quality Republic mm building.
[00:18:59] [00:19:00] Cyntha Jim's formula around it ditto for the Lex surgeon in the project for Jenna Drey predictably both products. Have a sterling reputation which now spans many years big fan than of not fixing something. That isn't broken. So X is going to it's going to be in those formulas for many years to come.
[00:19:25] Finally, my newsletter subscribers will be getting a real XD eye opener next month. I can't say where this is going on, but certain parties have identified new XD stare. Ohms that are three times as anabolic versus even the best ones that we know about today. So you're you know, if you're a subscriber stay tuned because yet you stare Own Story isn't over yet.
[00:19:52] Not by a long shot. The only thing that's problematic in this is that seven of those eight [00:20:00] at least are owns have not been identified yet as naturally occurring. So as you know, that could be problematic in bringing a product to Market. The vast world of empty sterile. No, so I'm doing this and you know, keep in mind the reason.
[00:20:20] There are so many substandard or poor quality XD products on the market today that don't work because they're not the right activists are on that has been standardized for the appropriate thing is because it does work so you don't counterfeit dollar bills you counterfeit hundred dollar bills.
[00:20:47] Right. And so, you know, if the reason that you have all this crap XD Starin out there is because there is at least are on out there that works and people go do this stuff is amazing and then somebody goes shopping and they buy something cheaper they buy something [00:21:00] else and it doesn't work as good in the god stuff is crap.
[00:21:03] I mean it wouldn't still be around if it was bunk because all the bunk stuff is gone today. It's all gone. Good point. Most of it is. Braden Benjamin says I've been using creatine monohydrate for years now, but I just don't get much out of it. I read about all of these great benefits. All I get is moon-faced.
[00:21:25] I take it with carbs, but not simple sugars. What am I doing wrong? Should I take it with sugar? You know, I wouldn't add simple sugars if that's likely only going to make your problem worse. So online and elsewhere. I've seen people Advocate taking their creatine with up to 75 grams of pure dextrose, which I think is insane, especially when they Advocate loading with four doses a day of that, you know, that's 300 grams of [00:22:00] pure sugar.
[00:22:00] You're putting into your body you might as well sign up for diabetes. creatine non-responders exist and the vast majority. Okay. So those are tied to people that eat a lot of tuna. A lot of red meat or a lot of Herring venison is also high in creatine. So intake of any of those could cause one to be a quote-unquote non-responder.
[00:22:28] Provided that's not the case. Here's what I would do first things first. Consider switching the kre-alkalyn. It's important to point out that Cree alkalyn is. Creatine monohydrate just buffered to the correct pH such that absorption is maximized what that means is in practice. You can use just a tenth of the amount of mono to reach an equivalent dose which means 500 milligrams of kre-alkalyn.
[00:22:58] Is equal to about [00:23:00] 5 grams of creatine mono. Most people do really well on a gram to a gram and a half of kre-alkalyn. I think dr. Galini's caps are 750 milligrams. So 1.5 grams, you get all of the strength and stamina that you will with mono with none of the blow. The other type of creatine that's absorb, very efficiently is creatine hydrochloride.
[00:23:26] I use that in progenitor direct and I get some mind-blowing. Five star reviews about it. Here's what's notable about that. Nobody is complaining about bloating. They're they're heavier. But their leaner now it is true. Some of that goes back to the end of cyclists pre threw them in the our ala and the product but then again I include those in part.
[00:23:52] To facilitate greater creatine hydrochloride chloride storage, finally, whatever form of [00:24:00] creatine you use. I would look to include a smidgen of disodium phosphate or simply sea salt on your food creatine transport across the muscle cell gradient is dependent upon sodium more so than even insulin which should tell you something about the importance of its role.
[00:24:21] I hope that helped I really like kre-alkalyn or creatine hydrochloride and you know what there are doctors that are using kre-alkalyn now and they're giving it to elderly people because because you don't end up with the water weight, you can take small doses and load over time. And most importantly creatine is being seen now as a potential the term is used Geronimo suppressant.
[00:24:52] It suppresses the effects of Aging we know that creatine improves blood glucose uptake in the [00:25:00] brain. That's a dementia marker. We know that it helps to maintain muscle mass. That's a sarcopenia resistor. There are just so many benefits to creatine that it's not about performance anymore. And Cree alkaline is the only thing that doctors will tell patients use because if they start pounding away 2 3 4 5 grams of creatine mono they put on water weight.
[00:25:25] They get that bloat and then it's like oh no, I'm not taking this anymore. I'm not taking this and if you're if you're a practitioner of bodyweight Works, which the Kree uncle and now you will thank me later. Yeah, I'm going to take a quick commercial break when we come back. We've got more questions stay tuned.
[00:25:40] You're listening to the blueprint power hour later in the show. We're going to be joined by Nicholas mihalick to talk about a weird little trick that will help you sleep better tonight. Stay tuned. Welcome back. For Jeff Gail says so after taking BCAAs Forever. I finally made the switch to EAS could [00:26:00] move at first.
[00:26:01] I couldn't tell much difference. But after taking the EAA as religiously for about three months, I can see what you're talking about. I recover a lot better and this is the big one for me. I'm stronger a lot stronger than when I was using BCAAs. What's the mechanism that's responsible World success with EAS.
[00:26:22] Is uncommon not because they don't work. But because most people find The Taste shall we say unpleasant? They are very very bitter. But for those that can get them down there pure gold because they start laying the bricks to build new muscle tissue right away. They are literally the bricks and mortar that is needed to build your body and after three to four months of using them consistently.
[00:26:51] You have substantially more muscles. So it's no surprise you're stronger. It just goes with the territory. So [00:27:00] at this point in your essential amino acid experience, you could go in two different directions. I'm assuming for example, you're using six grams pre and intra workout, which is what I spoke about earlier and it's what I recommend at least for a starting point.
[00:27:20] Option one is to Simply up the dose. I personally gone up to 30 grams a day 10 before training tendering. And 10 after recovery, as you would expect is much better and I certainly grew faster. The problem is at that level. You really need to be using the powder versus capsules and it's better as hell.
[00:27:46] Not too. Well. There are other issues with it, but I'll leave it at that option 2 would be using something like symptoms in which uses a much. Much lower amount of [00:28:00] essential amino acids, but in a very unique ratio not found anywhere else. It also contains a half dozen other ingredients that work with those essential aminos and at least their own to make them work better.
[00:28:17] So long story short. It works better than any amount of essential aminos you wish to take and trust me. I have heard from more people that you can imagine who took my 30 gram Challenge and then went to Stanford gym. There's quite a bit less than 30 grams in septage and you can you know back into it with the milligrams of the label if you wish and you will recover faster versus anything that you wish to compare it to and I mean this sincerely legal or illegal and that isn't hyperbole.
[00:28:56] Not only can you ask any [00:29:00] symptoms in user? That'll tell you the same. I put my money where my mouth is. I have a hundred percent guaranteed. You'll get your money back. No questions asked refund policy. I can count on one hand in the six years that it has been out the number of refund that I've had to give but here's the bottom line in the World of Sports Nutrition.
[00:29:27] It's hard to go wrong with the central aminos. Whether it's plain Jane essential aminos, or you know, the Cadillac use them and keep using them. It is the best money in the supplement game that you will spend. You know, I I'm a little surprised at this point a company has not put out a flavored.
[00:29:54] Back in math most of the taste now interestingly enough one of the gyms. I belong to the owner [00:30:00] came over to pick my brain a couple months ago about this because he had a BCAA product out. He tells me he's got a watermelon flavored essential immunity. He said there's no bitterness none zero if that's the case my hat's off to him.
[00:30:18] But they're that good use them and use a lot. I don't I've never understood why people took BCAAs. Yeah, and it's look behind me. I mean we've talked about it on this show right BCAAs are like calling the guys in to work. And eia is like having bricks-and-mortar show up at the same time so they can actually build a wall if you call the guys into work, but you don't have a job for them.
[00:30:47] There's no change. But if they come into work and there's bricks and mortar they can build walls and the whole idea that BCAAs is even been popular over the years is baffled me. In fact, I know [00:31:00] some legitimately. Good companies who is still promoting a BCAA product when they could so easily switch keep the same flavoring and just switch to an EAA and they don't I don't understand it.
[00:31:11] Yeah, and you know as well as I do the latest research of branched chain amino, not good not good. No, it's not good. But, you know critical thinkers know this I haven't used BCAAs and forever for that reason, and personally, I just use Thrive because as EAS added to thrive but. Yeah, it's just crazy.
[00:31:31] But anyway, I so Nick Samantha's am ski, I always get his name wrong. Nick Zam ski, what do you make of gym? When dollars five three one? Where would it fit into the blueprint cycle? That's a great question. Yeah, like when I got this so for those unfamiliar $1 five three one, that's a book that Jim wrote detailing a fairly simple and straightforward, but can't miss training.
[00:31:58] To get bigger and stronger. [00:32:00] He designed it because in his words I'm paraphrasing you said I wanted something. I really didn't require me to think all that much just get in into and out of the gym and get stronger. And so I don't want to give all the particulars away because Jim, you know wrote that book and deserving of your money for it, but suffice it to say.
[00:32:24] It's a four-week repeating microcycle with a built-in deload. I would put it in the same category as Bill Stars 5x5 the and that's about the highest compliment. I can give it it is percentage based there, you know, so there's some math involved. But listen if I can do it if you put again so Pros to the system are that it's easy to use.
[00:32:47] It's flexible. If it's based on solid scientific principles of overload if you stick with it month in and month out results are all but assured cons [00:33:00] include the fact that you know, it's not sexy. There's no Russian or ovarian backstory to it. It can be tedious and it takes some time to see results over a month.
[00:33:13] So after your three main works out to satisfied. There are options for anywhere from a lot more volume in so far as the systems work is concerned or options to do nothing and that one's called the I'm not doing jack Chait option. By the way, when Learners that one to pussyfoot around he talks to the street straightforward language personally.
[00:33:38] I find that kind of talk refreshing. So now comes the question. Where does it fit in the blueprint cycle? I can see two applications. The first obviously is during feast and the other is during Cruise during Feast. You normally have a window of anywhere between four and eight weeks where size [00:34:00] and strength gains are dramatically magnified when blurs loading though.
[00:34:07] Would likely extend that window out to 10 to 12 weeks, which is good because progress is a little slower versus using something like, you know, the loading patterns plus e DT or ladder work that I usually recommend by training and gaining an additional four weeks though. You're going to make some really solid progress cruise on the other.
[00:34:32] It's a over a shorter duration, but it's designed to cement your gains as permanent. You could use five through one there to although I don't think it's quite as ideal. The problem is Crews uses a like I said a shorter duration versus feast and as stated before five-three-one results, you know, they take a few months to manifest now you could double.
[00:34:59] The [00:35:00] normal Cruise duration, but then you'd be delaying your next payment fees crew cycle considerably having said that not everyone is eager to experience family again. So if that's you absolutely up for an extended cruise and just enjoy the ride I like I love famine by the way, I have been I have become.
[00:35:24] Acquainted with in love with the feeling of hunger. I can't tell you at least it gets mad at me because I haven't been eating a lot and she's like but you're healing you need to eat and I go what I just feel so good when I'm on empty and that Echoes the comments of a lot of people there like, you know, the first time I went through this I was cursing your name.
[00:35:45] I was questioning everything you ever wrote but the for the people that have been through it a few times through. You know, I crave that because it's like a mini detox period and dealing with Hunger [00:36:00] is never fun. But listen the way I've got it set up for the duration of famine. It's manageable.
[00:36:06] And by the way, we all know eating organic costs a lot of money, but famine is a great time to go we're giving yeah really, you know for the amount of time that the involved you can do it and. It gives you a nice wreath for how eating organic really makes you feel because trust me if you switch from what you're eating now to all organic.
[00:36:33] You can feel it in a matter of days in the matter of days. It's really interesting. We have to take our last commercial break when we back come back. We have the blueprint tip of the day. And it's not one about the holiday stay tuned to later in the show. We're going to talk about a simple little trick that can help you sleep better tonight.
[00:36:56] If you have the courage to try it. [00:37:00] It's heroin normally can run. Anyway, the blueprint tip of the day. What is it Rob? Tip of the day is far on how far we've come. Or not as the case may be so during father-son talk to him yesterday. I had a good laugh with Maximus about life before computers cell phones and the internet he was horrified to hear about the rotary dial phone Tethered to Accord.
[00:37:30] We also discussed the. Living in a world of virtually no computers. And of course no internet at one point. He asked me what we did if we wanted to learn more about a certain subject and when I told him we had to go to the LIE sure he almost lost it because today as we all know you can find the answer to virtually any question by simply asking your smartphone.
[00:37:58] He taught himself how to tie his [00:38:00] shoes by using. And he has literally thousands of games online. You can play, you know, just a perpetually amused it was his question about what we did before GPS though. That really got me. So, of course I told them we used you know, little big clunky fold-out map.
[00:38:21] He started laughing. Hysterically. I didn't though because it caused me to realize that we are still. In the Dark Ages, and I'm talking about strength training. Why is it in strength training we missed out pretty much on the information revolution the tools of their the automation is there yet today in 2018.
[00:38:48] There is still no GPS for people that want to get bigger and stronger. There's no better more efficient way to get to Gainesville. I think that's [00:39:00] sad and pathetic. So we need to better understand it part of it boils down to this. There's still a lot of Dogma handed down in the gym. So it's deeply entrenched a larger part of it is monkey.
[00:39:15] See monkey. Do you know just copy what you see other people are doing and part of it is a reluctance to admit I need help. Because among most males that seen as a sign of weakness and remember these are people that value strength so asking for help and their mind is akin to admitting their week, which is in my mind ridiculous.
[00:39:43] In the ultimate blueprint that I spoke about at the top of the show. I've given you every tool I found in 35 years of doing this. To get you gaining fast and keep gaining until you reach your genetic potential that we talked about famine earlier right [00:40:00] famine is 1/100 literally of what you will learn or over a hundred modules.
[00:40:08] What you choose to do after reaching your genetic potential is up to you and I've included information as how to go about that, too. So I want you to imagine this instead of what you're doing right now. Imagine striding into the gym for your next workout knowing exactly what you need to accomplish meaning, you know, the precise weights to select, you know exactly how many reps and sets to complete you'll know with Precision.
[00:40:39] How many more workouts until you hit your goal? You will even know down to the day when you'll Peak and better still. You know exactly what to do after that to cement in build on those games. There's no more guesswork no more winging it you own the gym and you will own [00:41:00] every workout. This is strength training in the 21st century or at least it should be because it runs circles around what most people are doing today to the point the steroid.
[00:41:17] Start to flood and that trainee Mary who moved her Squad from 315 to 505 and a little more than four months at the yeah, you know people know whisper quietly behind your back about what she must be taking. So let me be very clear steroid accusations or a good thing. In fact, I think they're a great thing, especially if you're not on.
[00:41:44] You should strive to be the person that they're accusing. Okay in discussion yesterday. She was in their squad. I asked Barry how much he pay for those loading patterns, and she said literally she said thousands. [00:42:00] First squad has taken off into the Stratosphere in it continues to climb. I'm letting it go those loading patterns and again there 1/100 of what you will learn for a tiny fraction of that.
[00:42:14] So there really is no reason not to pursue it on your part. I can get you there to the point. They're accusing you of using steroids, too. In closing. I want you to consider how much faster. You can get to a destination today in your car because of GPS versus the old days it is night and day. I'd also like you couldn't to consider getting that modern-day GPS for your training by going to my website coach Rob register.com.
[00:42:48] Getting the ultimate blueprint because it really is the fastest and most efficient way to get to your destination. Whatever that may be the shr special price is only [00:43:00] good for a few more weeks and it's going to be a long long time before I offer it again. It is a great Christmas gift for those of you who want to make sure you catch what you want.
[00:43:13] So I appreciate you considering it. The last thing I'll say is this. I talked more than I usually do about septage in this episode. I am rightfully proud of what that product can do and can can accomplish if you take all of my supplements together though. I will tell you this. all of them together do not even begin to scratch the surface of the kind of progress you can make.
[00:43:44] With the information in either my book or another person's book. A lot of you for the information last after the supplements after the gym memberships yada yada. I'm [00:44:00] asking that you put it just for one month out of your life. Put the money into information whether it's mine or someone else's I promise you.
[00:44:11] You will look back and say that is some of the best advice I have ever been given. the truth. it is it it's still even but I think we've been doing this for six or seven years now, right? It's still hard for me to get that message across I because people all want magic beans. I don't want magic beans and they all want you know, the goose that's going to lay the the golden myostatin inhibitor, you know, it's it's just silly and it never goes away.
[00:44:45] No because people are myopic they don't remember that they got fooled six times over the past seven years and they just double down and they will know this time it's going to be real nothing. Nothing. Nothing nothing. I'm you know, even [00:45:00] drugs. Don't work. If you don't train eat and sleep and the training part, you know people love to say.
[00:45:10] Training is 20% and nutrition is 80% I agree with that. But but what that means is your training is even that much more critical because you can mess up one meal and get the next one. Right, but you just have one session that day. Yeah, and and training is much more critical. You got an hour and a half maybe in the gym and you need to stimulate enough signals.
[00:45:39] So that your body says everything we take in today and food is going to go to Mars. Yeah, and that's not it that's not a coin flip. You don't go in and go, you know, I think today I'll do this. No, it's a science guys. Like, dr. Brad schoenfeld have been publishing studies ad infinitum showing that there is a such there's a [00:46:00] science to building more muscle with the amount of of of energy that you put in and it always takes.
[00:46:07] Intelligently designed loading patterns and movements it always does it always does think about it. You're going to go in and train chest you're going to deadlift on chest day. I know that's people like Carl that's absurd but that's that's that's an obvious an obvious assertion of what I'm trying to explain here.
[00:46:30] There are things that you will do that will elicit more muscle from that little tiny bit that 20% of the day that you have. Yeah. I asked Mary what her squat was doing, you know before getting Mom with the loading patterns, and she said maybe it was going up 25 pounds in a year. And and look over a hundred and fifty pounds in four four and a half months.
[00:46:58] So, [00:47:00] you know 25 verses 25 and a year versus a hundred fifty in a third of that. Start to multiply that over the you know, coming months and years and you can only imagine until you have trained that way with science on your side. You never know how much you've been missing. It's really eye-opening the pros do.
[00:47:27] The pro bodybuilders they train with people they portrayed with people like me losar Civ and train with people like Charles Glass. Why? Why do you think Pros move to California to train with Charles Glass? Right? Why do they do that? If it was just a matter of going in and put in the work for an hour and a half to stimulate the maximum amount of muscle that you could do that anywhere.
[00:47:48] They don't need to go live in California to work with somebody. Well, I don't know where Milos is. Maybe he's in California to but the reason is because the information about training is worth more. You can [00:48:00] buy that that piece of steak anywhere you can assemble that meal anywhere, but you do the training is the stimulus you can't get that just anywhere you have to talk to people who have done the work.
[00:48:15] And understand that this is the most expeditious way to get the work done. I robbed a great show. Let me see so it'll be Christmas before you and I see each other again. Yeah, Merry Christmas Merry Christmas to you too, Rob and hope your family has a wonderful Christmas this year you too, man.
[00:48:32] Talk to you soon. We're going to take one quick commercial break when we come back. We're going to talk about a silly little trick. It is a silly little trick that could actually help you sleep better tonight. Stay tuned, you know, one of the most. Really shows I've done this year. Was a silly little show.
[00:48:50] I had a guest fall out at the last minute and I had to go on the air. And do something so I decided to do something and [00:49:00] cover a topic that I get probably the most requests for information from people whether it be messages on Facebook email through the website and people have problems with sleep today.
[00:49:13] The entire population is problem with sleep and I did a show covering 10 tips that will help you sleep better tonight and feel better tomorrow. And the the show has been listened to I've been friended whatever you call on Instagram by some huge celebrities because of that show they've message me and they've said I can't believe it.
[00:49:36] I did a couple of these things the first night and I haven't slept that good in so long and so. I know that people are having challenge challenges sleeping. Well today and I don't know why I'm not going to get into the environment our propensity to expose ourselves to Blue Light late at night eating late.
[00:49:55] I mean, there's just a host of reasons. It could even be the RF in our environment that's [00:50:00] exciting the brain but. There's one little trick that everybody who tries it and I say tries it because it's something that instinctively you think nah, that doesn't sound like a good idea. But I promise you that if you try it is we're going to talk about right now with my next guest Nicholas mihalick.
[00:50:19] How you doing Nick? I'm doing very well Carl. Thanks again for having me back on. It's great to be back on superhuman radio. Yeah, and so and so. You know what you have discovered and actually something that I talked about on the air. is phenomenal little trick that is counterintuitive to most people but more importantly it is now starting to really.
[00:50:48] Really get to the masses out there. I know more and more people are talking about this and saying I can't believe it. I definitely sleep better. When I do this [00:51:00] when I tell the story behind how you discovered this first of all, because it was your dad, right? That's right. That's right. So my dad is a practicing Internal Medicine physician in Washington DC.
[00:51:09] He was he was diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea about 10 or 15 years ago. So it was a quite a long time ago and he was unable to use the therapeutic devices to treat his sleep apnea because he was a mouth breather. So when he tried the first option which was a CPAP, it was a mask fits it fits over his nose and when his mouth would open the air would essentially.
[00:51:34] Go in his mouth and in his nose and then out of his mouth. So he wasn't actually getting the benefits that the. Can can give to users of actually holding the airway open because they are was leaving his body before it got to the airway. He then moved on tried what's called a mandibular advancement device somewhat like a sports mouth guard to push the jaw forward keep the mouth closed and and actually removed the Jaw [00:52:00] from the respiratory Airway, but because he was unable to keep his mouth closed his jaw would essentially fall out of the device every night and the snores and app.
[00:52:10] What would come back so he created a prototype of what would end up becoming the Sami fix sleep strap, which held the mouth closed had a little breathing Vents and from the first night. It worked wonders for him and then I ended up trying out his. His Contraption so to speak because I was suffering from dry mouth symptoms and mouth-breathing symptoms, especially in the mornings after getting up.
[00:52:37] So I'd always have sore throats nasal congestion dry mouth. And as soon as I tried his product it was a game changer because immediately I was waking up and I didn't have any of those discomforts. Unfortunately the problem that arose was that. the adhesive we were using. Was a medical grade adhesive?
[00:52:58] However, [00:53:00] we quickly learned that the lips and especially the skin right around the lips are so sensitive at least in my case. And what we found out in time is that many other people share those characteristics that it caused a lot of Dermatological issues. So I was unable to use his version but I really liked the value of stealing the mouth so.
[00:53:21] I went and it was a kind of a group effort my dad and me and we went and tried to find the right adhesive and it was a long process of testing adhesives and working with with the properties of adhesives. And finally we settled on a solution that. Basically was about a skin friendly as you'll ever find so it doesn't pull on the lips doesn't leave residue behind but most importantly it's hypoallergenic.
[00:53:49] So that means that you know, almost regardless of circumstance unless a user has an open sore or an open wound. It's an [00:54:00] extremely gentle skin friendly solution and once we found. Worked out the perfect adhesive we decided to push forward and really try to evangelize in a sense and teach people about the value of breathing through the nose and it's not.
[00:54:19] Necessarily something for sleep. Apnea, you know in my father's case. He never used it to stop sleep apnea. He used it as an aid to make compliance with his CPAP machine better and he used it to make his mental advancement device better. And then we saw that it actually reduces snorts. So many people are open mouth snores.
[00:54:40] And you'll know if you're an open mouth nor if someone tells you you snore and then you wake up with those discomfort associated with mouth reading such as dry mouth nasal congestion or sore throat among many others, but then getting to the point that you just made. Nose breathing also helps with Sleep Quality in general and we touched on this the [00:55:00] last time that that that we spoke on superhuman radio, but basically when we breathe through the nose, we activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which helps us relax helps us.
[00:55:12] Achieve and maintain deep sleep with fewer interruptions that we call arousals. So you'd have less of an incidence of cortisol spikes during sleep, which can lead to tossing and turning or waking up with something called nocturia to use the restroom. So there are a number of benefits. That simply breathing through the nose can give to people and you know, one of the last points that we like to make is a lot of people are very familiar with yoga or Tai Chi pranayama Eastern medicine in some.
[00:55:42] Some sort and the reason that all of these different practices, they actually all really stress nasal breathing. And the reason for that is because nasal breathing has this incredible physiological ability to calm us down to relax. You know, the the [00:56:00] parasympathetic activation that I mentioned a little earlier is actually known as the relaxation response.
[00:56:05] So it's incredibly valuable for for helping us get rid of stress, which is very important in terms of improving Sleep Quality and. And we have these added benefits as mentioned that you can reduce your snores. You can potentially improve compliance with CPAP machines are many people are advancement devices.
[00:56:24] So it's really it's really just an incredible thing the value of the nose and so we like to tell people your nose is for breathing in your mouth is for eating so that people really we can drive home the point that you want to keep your mouth closed and you want to breathe through the nose as much as possible, especially when you're when you're resting or relaxing.
[00:56:45] So another interesting fact and I'm going to share it. There's a ring out there and it's not the order ring. It's called the go to sleep ring. I just got it. I've been sleeping with her two days. Excuse me. It's so much more advanced than [00:57:00] Aura for Sleep data. I mean, it's just it's like a thousand times better than the ordering.
[00:57:06] If or if all you're interested in sleep, it doesn't track movement and activity and that's what a stuff but it does track. Blood oxygen levels throughout the night on a second-by-second basis. It does and accurately measures REM sleep and deep sleep and light sleep. It measures movements. It actually tells you you were restless 42 times last night.
[00:57:35] It measures heart rate. I mean, it's just amazing and it and it puts it all on graphs where you can see things you can see. Oh now I see why my heart went up then or and I sleep with a little box recorder next to my bed. So I know when I snore at what time and I can tell you that I ran I didn't have any salmon fix [00:58:00] trips couple nights ago.
[00:58:01] So I went to Walgreens and I bought this waxy kind of surgical. And I had a little whisker at the time and I put it on and it came off in the middle of the night and I could see a huge spike in my heart rate when it when it came off and I could see that I became more restless and I moved more and I knew I was breathing through my mouth in the morning when I woke up because we're the tape was.
[00:58:32] It was all moisture. So I had been breathing through my mouth right tonight. And so. You know what people don't understand about this phenomenon, and I don't know people that say well did our ancestors Bree. I don't know just because. You're not everything Paleolithic humans did is good today?
[00:58:52] Right? We want to just pick the things that they diet that's good. But they also did a lot of stupid stuff. Right? So we don't want to we don't want to emulate that [00:59:00] and but what I can tell you is this the nose is more like that O2 sensor in your car and it's always measuring what's coming in through the brain and it adjusts.
[00:59:17] Physiological systems accordingly and it can tell how much oxygen is in the air that you're breathing. It can tell infuses nitric oxide. It warms the air the nose does so much that when you bypass it the body is kind of working blindly and your heart rate may go up a variety of different things that you don't want to happen at night while you're sleeping that will impair your sleep change.
[00:59:46] And it's so easy to seal your mouth now with something like the Somme to fix trip because it's made specifically to stay put now I have received an email from one woman who loves [01:00:00] her some to fix strips, but for some reason her husband his keep coming off in the middle of the night. And what I'd like to do is I'd like to take a quick commercial break.
[01:00:10] And have you answer a couple questions for Lynn right on the other side of the the interview? How's that sound? Okay, but this is a great thing. I'm inviting everybody to try something to fix trip to go to superhuman radio dotnet and click the salmon fix Banner at all. Go to the website, which is it's time to fix.com right?
[01:00:30] That's right. And get a free trial pack of salmon fix trips and don't be a Don't Be Afraid don't oh my God. I'm going to smother in the middle know you hopes mother in the middle. Now, you're not going to die of sudden infant death syndrome. You will wake up. If you can't breathe. I can promise you that you will not die in your sleep.
[01:00:49] But give this a real try. I don't mean one night. Try it for a few night. Even Lynn Wright who were going to talk about when we come back said her husband said [01:01:00] when the then when they stay on he sleeps better. So he wants a solution stay tuned right back. Welcome back. We're talking with Nicholas mahalik from Psalm to fix some to fix strips some defects.com.
[01:01:19] It's an amazing. It's a little trick that will improve your sleep everybody who uses it tells me. Wow. I can't believe it. I thought I was sleeping great already and I'm sleeping better and Lynn Wright who is in my age bracket and is a competitive Olympic lifter loves her some to fix trips a husband likes him too.
[01:01:42] But he's having a little trouble keeping them on any advice. Do you have some people out there who may be. Is it excessive jaw movement do they need a chin strap in combination? I mean I sleep with the chin strap and sound effects trips because I noticed that if I don't I can pull [01:02:00] you know, I don't know what I do in the middle of the night with my job, but I can't pull it apart.
[01:02:06] I see interesting interesting because so at least in terms of chin straps. We generally try to stay away from chin straps because if the chin strap is fits around the back of the head it can in many cases pull the jaw backwards towards the airway and right after bait some snores, right? However, if you have it loose enough that it's not moving the jaw.
[01:02:31] In there's not too much pressure forcing. The jaw closed. It could be an option. Now. One thing I'd be interested in knowing is if there are any differences in the pre bedtime routine between Lynn and her husband one issue that we do have is I already know where you're going like if they put lotions and stuff on their face before they could act.
[01:02:53] Exactly. So one one issue that will cause poor adhesion is if there are any [01:03:00] lubricants or bombs either on the lips or on the surrounding Skin So, generally what we like to have people do is wash the face completely dry it and then apply the strips and one little trick is that as a matter of fact if you don't have chapped lips, if you put something like our product on you actually will not get chapped lips because usually track lips are results of some mouth-breathing to a certain extent.
[01:03:23] Other other things that can help ensuring that the product stays on is if you place the product when your lips aren't completely sealed you can have a little bit of an issue with I've done that. I've done it. I've done that. In fact, I've woken up in the morning with like a little bit of pooled saliva because I didn't the trick that I've learned is you purse your lips pretty hard together.
[01:03:50] So that they almost wrote they almost role in towards the teeth factly exactly. Yeah, and then I have no problem with it whatsoever. No. [01:04:00] 100% so one thing that we've noticed is that if you simply close if you simply hold your lips in a natural closed position and maybe their part just Parts it just a little bit where the vent is the humidity from the breaths over a multiple hours can actually cause a bit of compromise compromise to adhesion, right?
[01:04:22] However, if you close your lips and then while they're sealed turn them in words just a little bit. And as you described kind of force them closed, press them together and then apply the strips while they're pressed together turned inwards, you will default to a nasal breathing pattern and the issue of the adhesion coming off is usually it's usually a non-issue at that point.
[01:04:49] I also notice it's almost like they stick better as they go through the night when you first put them on. You could pretty easily move their remove them and move them if you have to [01:05:00] but in the morning the force that it takes to take them off seems to be more than after you apply them. So it almost is like they improve their ability to keep the lips closed as the night goes on.
[01:05:12] Yes that and that's the nature of this adhesive. Some adhesives are like that this adhesive in particular. We notice that the best adhesion quality is usually around the sixth hour and then after the sixth hour it starts to it starts to lose that in a very very good seal, but it will definitely last through the night and and it will definitely there will be more adhesion in the morning than when you first put it on.
[01:05:38] Yeah, cool stuff. By the way, you have to check out this go to sleep ring geode the number to sleep. I did I did during the commercial break. It's very interesting. You know, it's not a ring. You can wear all the time. Like I have an ordering on now the tracks my steps. Okay. This ring actually has like a little electronic [01:06:00] pod that fits under the hand.
[01:06:03] So it's in your in your hand and so it's not practical to wear it throughout the day because you can't grab anything with that hand but it's easy to sleep with but the accuracy and the triangulation of the data to be able to see like two nights in a row. I have no idea why. An hour into sleep and an hour before I woke up my blood Ox dropped to 80 and 79 now.
[01:06:30] That's not that's not life threatening. But the rest of the night by Blood auctions 97.5 right? So I'm like, okay what's happening at those moments? Am I rolling over and laying on my face and then I move which could be the case, you know, so believe it or not. I am going to start to video record myself sleeping because I am so look.
[01:06:55] I'm 60 years old now and I [01:07:00] am all about. Living longer not necessarily being stronger. Like I used to my goal now is to hit a hundred and be healthy and it's not going to be easy for me because I have some challenges, but I am starting to sort out. The arrows that I will have in my quiver and one of them is my sleep that possibly one of the most important things and we have a population that doesn't sleep by the way also a population full of disease.
[01:07:32] And and so anything that improves my sleep. I'm all about it. And so I'm actually thinking about recording myself so I can actually have visuals because right now I record audio like I snored for one minute last night at 3:58 a.m. And then I just turned and I because now I'm so sensitive to snoring that it literally wakes me up.
[01:07:52] Like I don't want to snore I freaks me out. So it's moved into that area of the brain. Like if [01:08:00] you hear someone crash a door like oh someone's coming into the house and so soon as I start to snore. I move I snort for one minute last night, but my heart rate didn't change and it's and for me, it's not even a snore.
[01:08:12] It's more like a Grumble, you know, it's like what procedure snore and then I must have moved in my sleep. I'd like to see if I moved in my sleep. So I'm actually thinking about starting to video myself so that I can compare it to. My go to sleep ring data and also my sleep app that I run all night long because specifically for the voice recorder and time stamp that tells me if I and then I and my sleep app.
[01:08:38] I can also overlay onto my go to sleep ring and I can see a lot of the information play out on my sleep app, which is just listening for sounds. Right, but this is this has become so intriguing to me this it's almost like to me sleep is like the ocean, you know, we just found out that [01:09:00] there's a microbe two and a half miles down in the ocean that each carbon dioxide.
[01:09:04] The reason that the ocean could purges carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere is because there's a microbe they just discovered two and a half miles down that eats carbon dioxide grows and then becomes food for. Sea creatures on the bottom of the ocean and so like to me the ocean is wild like we know more about Mars in the moon than we do about the ocean.
[01:09:26] Well, we need we know even less about sleep and shouldn't we know more about it since it's leading to so many diseases. And it's also the activity that we do the most in life.
