Rock Steady
with Guest Porter Cottrell IFBB Pro

Few have kept the the flame of physical culture burning the way Cottrell has. He first appeared on SHR in 2006 when I was still on AM radio. Since the 80"s he's been a staunch competitor gracing the Olympia and Arnold stage among many others. While he stopped competing in 1999 he never lost his love for training and that turned into a labor of love helping others achieve the strength, muscularity, conditioning and peak health that was his trademark. Come with me as I visit with him and discover his secret for longevity and health while maintaining a superior physique.

Show Notes:

Rock Steady

Carl speaks highly of Porter, noting that he embodies what is good about bodybuilding and has kept the flame of physical culture alive due to his rock-steady conviction on how to achieve the best possible physique, conditioning, and health.

Carl and Porter discuss Porter's career as a bodybuilder and coach in Louisville, Kentucky. Porter has been working out since he was 12 and has seen many success stories from his clients. He loves helping people reach their goals and see results.

Porter has been working out for close to 40 years and loves it more than ever. He decided to retire from bodybuilding and instead focus on teaching people how to be healthy. He stresses the importance of exercise and a balanced diet to achieve longevity. Porter talks about his friend Dwight Whitten and how he helped him to develop a healthier relationship with food, leading to Dwight's impressive 80lb weight loss. He emphasizes that it is not necessary to be a bodybuilder to be healthy and make good choices.

Porter reiterates the importance of developing a better relationship with food and working out. He goes on to tell a story about when they were preparing for a professional bodybuilding competition and had cut their fat levels very low. This caused them to suffer mentally and physically, as it had an impact on their hormones, mood, libido, and overall feeling of well-being. When they were about to do a leg workout, they could not bring themselves to do it and ended up crying and having to go home…..
