Adam Von Rothfelder – Prof. José Ángel Morales-Garcia
There is mounting evidence that postponing your first meal of the day may have unwanted effects. With intermittent fasting being all the rage these days, the discussion about breakfast stands front and center. Again! How do we bridge the benefits of fasting with the timing of our first meal? PLUS One of the main natural components of ayahuasca is dimethyltryptamine (DMT), which promotes neurogenesis --the formation of new neurons-- according to research led by the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM). What about a weaker version made into a morning tea? Could this be the new “micro dosing” of 2021?
Show Notes:
[3:15] The idea that breakfast has been demonized in lieu of the intermittent fasting movement.
- Light and food are two triggers that set the circadian clock.
[12:00] The focus should be on eating with the sunrise and stopping as light goes away when fasting.
- Stop trying to stretch out the morning without eating.
- Instead, stop eating earlier in the evening.
[14;00] Training fasted.
- Fasting cardio elicits no greater fat loss at the end of the day.
[17:00] Eating carbs later in the evening can make you insulin resistant and interrupt sleep.
- The fed state allows the body to let go of fat because the body will perceive food as in abundance.
[23:20] the lease of endorphins from being fasted is addressed.
- It is important to not skimp on fat.
[32:00] Vitamin D is the day time hormone.
- Should be taken with fat.
[34:40] The reason that breakfast got thrown under the bus.
- The foods that were associated with breakfast.
[39:05] Gathering food and doing work before the first meal?
- Our ancestors probably didn’t eat fresh every morning.
- There were nuts, plants, etc that would store.
- Adam recommends a small amount of liquid protein first thing in the morning for ease of digestibility.
[50:20] Adam’s coffee and sample box.
- Nootropic coffee.
- There is also a collagen coffee.
- An oatmeal is coming out.
- This coffee is cold brewed and then spray dried to provide 76% less acid than conventional coffee.
[1:08:15] Amazonian tea study.
- Tea made from ayahuasca.
- Low concentration of DMT ( microdose).
- Was found to stimulate the formation of new neurons.
[1:1:35] Does the botanical have to be standardized for DMT?
- The key is in the very low dose of DMT.
