SHR # 2472 :: The BluePrint Power Hour

Show Notes:

[3:16] Training for the burn?

  • Muscle can and will grow from high volume and light weight in conjunction with incomplete recovery.
  • Growth factors increase from this training. Heat shock proteins could also be involved.
  • Sufficient rest between sessions is required for this to work.
  • This approach results in more sarcoplasmic hypertrophy.
  • Stick to 45-60 second rest periods between sets.

[7:26] Do I have to take Synthagen with tart cherry juice?

  • Tart cherry was originally considered in the formula.
  • Synthagen X2 upped the bar so much that cherry won’t do much extra.
  • If your pre contains any additional amino acids, don’t take it with Synthagen. Aminos skew the ratio of EAA’s in SynthagenIf your pre contains any additional amino acids, don’t take it with Synthagen. Aminos skew the ratio of EAA’s in Synthagen.
  • Synthagen can be paired with stims.
  • It works extremely well with the aforementioned incomplete recovery training modalities.
  • Take 10 before every session, 15 before legs or back day. Drop the dosage by 1 tabs each training session until proper dosage is reached.

[14:40] Opinion on natural anabolics?

  • Titan: dosed too low to meet its claims.
  • Japonica: myostatin inhibition hasn’t panned out to be what it was first thought.
  • Ursolic acid has horrible bioavailability.
  • There may be anabolic compounds in citrus fruits: obanone and sensitin.
  • Training hard will work better every time.

[22:20] How important is it to get  oxygen to muscle fibers/  back pain problem.

  • Back pain is different than soreness is not good.
  • Lower back muscles take ~100 hours to recover.

[33:43] Any pro hormones that are exicting?

  • 36644 BA
  • It was found to increase protein synthesis even with the co-administration of cortisone.
  • It recycles itself in the body.

[38:59] Was there ever a safe pro hormone?

  • 4-AD was probably the safest.
  • It is anabolic even when it isn’t converted.

[44:52] NAC for respiratory health and glutathione production.

  • It is a cheap method to boost glutathione.

[52:25] cost effective home gym that takes up little space.

  • Chins/dip station and a trap bar.
  • Dips and chins are level 7 movements.
  • Trap bars allow for heavy loading.
  • Don’t go cheap on the dip station. Its weight capacity should be ~ 1.5-2x your body weight and should have a large foot plate.
  • Carl recommends Powerblock dumbbells or kettlebells and a jump rope.

[1:00:54] Which is a better indicator of a good workout: a pump or soreness.

  • Rob says neither. Both are subjective measures and progressing the log book will trump them every time.

[1:07:26] Tip of the day: thoughts on living to 95.

  • Happy birthday to Rob’s late grandfather.
  • He always erred on the side of caution and took pretty good care of himself.
  • He did not shy away from dietary fats.
  • He loved to walk.
  • Rob wishes that he would have done a bit more weight training for quality of life purposes.
