Guest: Marlene Zuk - Cheryl Brost - Matt Chan
Zuk is the author of a critically important book that looks at the science behind the love affair many are having with the Paleo movement. Her research is fantastic and accurate. This book begs the reader to abandon the rhetoric and apply critical thinking to things like how fast we can adapt to changes in our environment, why some things take longer than others to trigger the evolutionary process and much more. This is a must-hear interview. PLUS Chan and Brost have made it to the World CrossFit Games numerous times and are every bit the caliber of athlete that any Olympic athlete is. What fuels their passion, how they got introduced to CrosFit and where they are now are all covered.

I don't think Matt said we aren't still evolving but that the examples she used were weak. Since all mammals are born with the ability to produce lactase the genetic mutation needed to keep producing lactase isn't as great as the mutation needed to start producing enzymes that would give us the ability to digest cellulose or proline righ proteins. ( my examples).
I think John Durant had the best comment about this book." It should not have been a book in 2013, it should have been a blog post in 2010"Although I agree she makes alot of good points, she is using the popularity of "Paleo" in the title to sell her book. You don't read Paleo blogs or listen to paleo podcasts but if you did you would know that most of the leaders of the Paleo movement have been saying the same thing for the last few years. They stress using the science of nutrient density, problematic proteins, inflammation and immune response rather than using the caveman theory.
So let me get this straight.. Matt Lalonde (who has been a guest and I have a lot of respect for) says that Marlene Zuk's theory on change (meaning that we are still evolving and rapid evolution occurs) is weak?
Don't be so easily fooled. Yes Zuk does make some good points but if you listen to Matt Lalonde - Harvard PhD on the fat burning man show recently he destroys her theory of change as being very weak with very poor examples.
Cheers
