Angiogenesis is a naturally occurring physiological phenomenon that increases vascularization of the heart. It is well known that it is shut off in the Type 2 Diabetic individual leading to heart pathologies that increase the risk of heart attack. This study showed that exercise alone doesn't improve angiogenesis and it takes testosterone to turn on micro RNA machinery that increases new vascularization of the heart.

Show Notes:
[3:25] Many doctors are on the fence about prescribing TRT to diabetics.
- There are no absolute “wont’ prescribe” instances based on a condition such as diabetes. It is always an “it depends” type of situation.
- Usually nutritional interventions and lifestyle changes are recommended first.
- If blood pressure and glucose is high, injections probably won’t be prescribed.
[7:25] Study showing diabetic rodents on testosterone had improved angiogenesis in response to running on a wheel.
- Test increases angiogenesis in the whole body. This is important for many things including irrigation systems for muscle growth.
- The rodents that didn’t get test had no upregulation in angiogenesis.
[15:47] 2 types of changes in the heart.
- Pathological- bad.
- Physiological- good changes from athletic training. The heart gets bigger so that the sinuses can hold more blood.
[17:32] What about reduction in activity due to aging?
- Just stay active. It doesn’t have to be deadlifts or squats.
[19:15] How we conventionally measure blood pressure is fallible.
- This leads to over prescription of blood pressure meds.
- Hawthorn berry supplementation is good for lowering blood pressure.
[26:15] Meditation for blood pressure raises the question of validity of blood pressure testing methods.
- Aspartame increases blood pressure.
[28:00] Are varicose veins a sign of blood circulation issues?
- There is a difference between varicose veins and bulging veins.
- Valsalva causes bulging blood vessels, but this actually strengthens veins.
- Varicose veins are the result of a loss of sex hormones.
- Carl has never seen a link between varicose veins and blood clotting.
[31:36] 100 mg test cyp/ week makes a man hypogonadal.
[35:53] Lower test is more closely correlated to symptoms of “roid rage”.
[39:13] Dosing test once every week is not the way that the body pulses hormones.
- This leads to male pattern baldness, bacne, etc.
- Adam has seen several cases of C-reactive protein dropping when hormones were properly pulsed.
[44:00] Estradiol to test ratio is correlated to varicose veins.
[46:00] More frequent sub-q dosing question.
- Adam and Car discuss a hybrid approach of using test cream/ injections.
[51:00] Carl explains why he is going back to intramuscular injections.
[1:03:33] do not be afraid of TRT unless:
- You have had a cardiac ischemic event.
- Don’t jump into massive physical activity too fast.
- Compound the subtle changes instead of trying to go from zero to one hundred.
[1:09:00] You can’t trash your body just because you have gotten back into shape.
