SHR # 2421 :: The BluePrint Power Hour

Show Notes:

[4:15] When will Synthagen be back in stock?

  • End of the year.

[15:20] Keeping inflammation in check.

  • Sometimes inflammation is beneficial.
  • Training in itself is an irritation to the body.
  • Avoiding excessive training will go a long way.
  • Hot and cold contrast showers are surprisingly effective.
  • Infrared sauna.
  • PEMF
  • Mitored light.
  • Nutraceuticals: baby aspirin or white willow bark, fish oil, curucumin, Boswellia Serrata, Kratom.
  • Antioxidants: Superoxide dismutase, curucumin, green tea extract, short bursts of c-60, vitamin C, Tocotrienols (red palm oil is a good source), Astaxanthin, alpha lipoic acid, quercetin, fisetin, NAC.
  • DMSO- be cautious of cell toxicity.

[32:29] Curcumin/turmeric as an MAOI?

  • There are some herbs, such as saffron, that act as a natural MAOI.
  • Anxiolytic and pain relief effects. High doses can have an SSRI type of effect.

[41:24] Walmart is now selling collagen peptides.

  • Collagen is 40% glycine, meaning that it is important to buy organic.

[43:00] Stimulants to stay awake at work?

  • The problem is lack of sleep.
  • Get a sleep tracker and fix apnea if you have it.
  • A Sleepon ring is around 90 dollars.
  • Test levels could be too low.
  • Lack of sleep can lower SHBG, rendering sex hormones less effective.
  • If you have narcolepsy, stimulants will have the opposite effect of what they normally do.
  • Modafinil is a controlled substance, but Adrafanil is not.
  • Adrafanil must be dosed higher and can have higher risk of liver toxicity.

[54:06] The pointy bone at the top of my shoulder is sore.

  • Could be an AC joint issue, bursitis, impingement, supraspinatus issue, etc.
  • BPC-157, TB-4, and MGF would probably help.

[1:03:40] Weak shoulders? I have been doing Wendler’s 5/3/1.

  • The issue is rarely hypertrophy. The usual problem is narrow clavicles.
  • Larry Scott fixed this problem by seeking out help from one of the best coaches of the time: Vince Gironda.
  • He played to his strength (arms) to draw attention away from his narrow clavicles.
  • Ditch the overhead press for handstand pushups.
  • Drop the upright rows.
  • The Bradford press is a valid movement .
  • Rob does not like lateral raises.
  • Performing enough big pulling movements should build up your rear delts.
  • The reverse pec-deck is a valid movement.

[1:15:17] Why do so many people avoid the real reason that bodybuilders die early (steroids)?

  • The real issue is not steroids. They only contribute a small portion of the cause to a problem that is largely overblown.
  • Larger people die sooner.
  • There is actually a much larger sample of bodybuilders that didn’t die young.
  • The media is not concerned with facts or details.
  • Insulin, diuretics, and painkillers are more dangerous than steroids.

[1:29:53] How to make progress with limited equipment.
