SHR # 2458 :: The Real Science Behind Molecular Hydrogen

Share

Tyler W. LeBaron

We evolved under the influences of gasses. Just like gravity and the sun, gasses have shaped thew human condition. So why is it a shock that just slightly increasing exposure to hydrogen may hold profound benefits to health, longevity and aging well? This show get deep into the science revolving about the effects of molecular hydrogen on humans.

Two studies were referenced during the interview here they are

SHR # 2458 :: The Real Science Behind Molecular Hydrogen

Show Notes:

[3:00] Tyler Lebaron has zero affiliation or investment in any H+ water company

  • Alkaline water is largely bunk for the claims that are being made.
  • He experimented with an electrolysis machine.
  • H+ gas is responsible for oxidative reduction potential.

[11:40] H+ gas for stroke damage mitigation.

  • Several clinical studies show benefit to the brain in this case.
  • It would also benefit the heart.
  • H+ can act as an electron donor as well as a substrate.

[17:59] Hydrogen was involved in the creation of the univers and life.

  • Hydrogenase in the plasma membrane of plants can produce hydrogen gas to balance redox potential.

[20:22] H+ and health.

  • Cerebral infarction- adrivone vs. H+ inhalation- MRI showed H+ to be more effective.
  • H+ is also relatively safter than drugs.

[25:24] NAD + is an electron transporter. H+ is largely unrelated to this process.

  • H+ gas exposure prevents the decline in NAD+ to NADH ratio.

[33:24] How does H+ pertain to the gut?

  • It has an attenuative effect on the “good” gut bacteria in an unhealthy gut. In a healthy gut, not much is noticed.

[40:00] Lack of “bad” microbes.

  • Microbes have a duality to them.
  • Exercise causes higher levels of H+ production.
  • H+ producing bacteria is inversely correlated to Parkinson’s.
  • Health is a context.

[42:48] Pulsed H+ intervention vs. Steady state?

  • Intermittent exposures seems to be superior.
  • The body seems to respond better to scarcity and reintroduction (I.e HGH and fish oil).

[48:56] Longevity and aging?

  • PGC-1 alpha and SIRT expression are positively affected.
  • H+ acts as a selctive antioxidant.
  • Modulates redox homeostasis.
  • It can increase redox in some areas of the cell while simultaneously reducing redox in other areas.

[57:40] Aging is multi-factoral.

  • Many symptoms come down to potential slowing of mitochondrial biogenesis.

[1:04:34] H+ and exercise.

  • H+ increases mitochondrial ATP production.
  • Can keep the mitochondria out of the fermentation state, meaning less lactic acid to convert into pyruvate.
  • Too high levels of lactate can be pathogenic.
  • H+ lowers resting heart rate during exercise.
  • Lowers perceived exertion.
  • Too much exercise can be detrimental. H+ can increase the tolerable dose of adaptable exercise.
  • Potentiates some benefits of exercise.
  • Acts as a selective antioxidant.

[1:16:13] FAD, FADH2, and H+ gas.

[1:16:57] did different exposures to H+ gas shape evolution? Is there evidence?

[1:21:36] Is anaphalaxia a risk when inhaling H+?

  • Any lack of oxygen iseventually dangerous.
  • Just make sure to get enough oxygen.

[1:32:19] How can H+ be administered?

  • Inhalation of a 2-4% gas.
  • Drink
  • V. inhjection- more studies are needed to assess this method.
  • Bathing in H+ gas.

[1:38:57] Do electrolysis machines create deuterium water?

  • Deuterium in water is more dangerous than that in gas.
  • This is because in water the deuterium atoms are bonded to carbon and are more likely to participate in biochemical reactions.
  • Ingestion of H+ water prevented arthosclerosis in a study.
