SHR # 2464 :: The Gold Standard for Longevity & Healthspan Research PLUS What I'm Digging...

Share

Dr. Brian Kennedy, PhD

For the first time in history, there are now more people 65 and above, than under the age of five years old. We are living longer, but not healthier. We are dedicated to researching and commercializing drug-free solutions that are scientifically shown to extend overall longevity, while simultaneously increasing the health and quality of our years throughout our life span. Ultimately, we seek to reverse the effects of biological aging. Can this unique molecule deliver on these desires? PLUS Starting from scratch is hard to do when you're a compulsive trainer. But it just might be what you have to do.

SHR # 2464 :: The Gold Standard for Longevity & Healthspan Research PLUS What I'm Digging...

Show Notes:

[2:25] The concept of biological age.

  • There are multiple ways to measure it.
  • Methylation patterns of the genome are one way.

[4:50] Telomere length, senescent cells, and methylation clocks.

  • They all trangulate and inter-connected.

[7:26] Is aging connected to the bioaccumulation of metabolic debris?

  • Yes, some metabolites decline while others accumulate with age.

[9:22] Alpha ketoglutarate.

  • The calcium bonded form may have more activity than AAKG.
  • It is a metabolic flexibility molecule.
  • It declines with age.
  • There could be a correlation with ketosis depending on the method use to induce ketosis.

[16:25] Libido changes from AKG are now being tested.

[18:20] The AKG study.

  • Mice 18 months of age (middle aged)
  • Survival and frailty index was measured.
  • AKG reduced frailty more than it raised survival.

[22;00] The nervous system serves as the wire harness of the body.

  • The preservation of tissues and nervous system are being studied.
  • There is a lot of senescence in the brain when aging occurs.
  • AKG may block the SASP from aging.

[25:00] What does the saliva test that comes with the supplement measure?

  • Modified methylation clock.
  • Rejuvant is one of the few products that provides testing before and after dosing.

[29:00] Does AKG reduce fertility?

  • No know effect in mammals.
  • There is a positive correlation between optimal AKG levels and libido, but this does not mean causation.

[37:00] Positive effect on hair and skin.

[37:50] Does biological age correlate with feeling/ performing better?

  • Not only is the methylation clock affected, but CRP and other inflammatory markers are positively affected.

[39:42] Effect on inflammaging or nervous system degredation?

[44:18] Changes to microbiome?

[51:59] Effect on muscle?

  • Reduction in frailty is associated with preservation of muscle.

[55:00] Dosing.

  • 750mg/day
  • The supplement is time released.

[56:54] Possible synergy of AKG and NAD+ supplementation.

[1:05:00] The importance of cardio.

  • There is no shame in dialing it back and returning to the basics.
