SHR # 2523 :: Cardiovascular Effects and Benefits of BFR PLUS Critical Thinking 101: Co2 Levels Are at Record Lows.. Why Isn't Anyone Talking About It?

Share

Dr. James Stray-Gunderson, MD

The role of blood-flow restriction training has been well illustrated in improving the anabolic response to exercise in numerous studies. But what about the effect on the heart and cardiovascular system at large? Blood-flow restriction creates a partitioning of blood in the limbs the BFR bands are applied to. Does this make it a good choice for people with existing heart conditions? What about the hemodynamics effects? Could BFR aid in various types of peripheral blood flow diseases? The and many more questions will be answered. PLUS Critical Thinking 101: Co2 is at an all-time global low. Lower than any Green New Deal ever promised to make them. Yet we have some of the craziest weather of all times. What’s up with that? Why isn't the MSM asking questions?

Show Transcript SHR # 2523 :: Cardiovascular Effects and Benefits of BFR PLUS Critical Thinking 101: Co2 Levels Are at Record Lows.. Why Isn't Anyone Talking About It?

Show Notes:

[5:00] Is BFR dangerous?

  • as long as arterial blood flow is not occluded.
  • 3 conditions must occur for a blood clot to happen:
  • 1- a stagnant pool of blood.
  • 2- endothelial damage- elastic BFR doesn’t do this.
  • 3- a hyper coagulant state.

[13:22] Effect on the heart.

  • Rigid systems could possibly put extra stress on the heart.
  • Elastic BFR doesn’t do this.

[18:47] difference in upper and lower limbs.

[24:20] Blood pressure effects.

  • Exercise will acutely increase blood pressure.
  • Elastic BFR does not affect blood pressure to any significant degree past normal exercise.

[34:40] Is there a duration limit to using the bands?

  • BStrong recommends 30 minutes with exercise to keep the blood moving.

[37:50] Wearing the bands while walking.

[39:00] Acutely increased hemoglobin.

  • This is due to plasma volume shifting into the muscles and out of the blood.

[40:00] Increased angiogenesis.

[43:50] How to clean a BStrong band.

  • Light washing cycle or wash in the sink.
  • Let hem dry in the sun.

[59:12] What is abnormal exercise pressure reflex?

  • Can be avoided by using an elastic system.

[1:01:12] trouble with targeting muscles during compound movements.

  • Use a more single-joint exercise.

[1:02:59] How to establish an alternate measure to arterial occlusion pressure.

[1:07:33] super-slow training in conjunction with BStrong?
