What will you build with your life.
Discussing the journey of a young man with Down Syndrome used Physical
Culture to change his life forever. Collin's dream became a reality in
November of 2015 on a stage in Louisville, KY thanks to a lot of hard
work and support from his team. Collin had transformed his body from
obese to competition ready with unwavering dedication, a very strict
diet, and intense training.
[00:01:00] Brent shares the back story of how Collin started weightlifting notwithstanding the fact that people with down syndrome struggle with losing weight.
- He lost about 50 pounds and gained 10 pounds of muscle.
- He ended up 4th in the competition.
[00:02:19] Brent and Eric talks about how the story went viral and how Erik inspired people.
[00:03:03] Colin was quoted as saying ‘fitness changed my life emotionally and physically.” People out there who have their lives somehow been affected negatively by some event or some illness always find a happier life when they're attracted to physical culture.
[00:03:44] Eric, who was a very famous entertainment attorney, talks about how he got involved and how Colin’s story became a documentary.
[00:07:37] Carl confirms that the spiritual, emotional, and mental transformation happens as the body changes.
[00:13:10] Eric expounds on when and how the documentary will be made and released.
[00:14:30] Eric states that there is another story behind the story and it’s about Glen, the trainer and how inspiring he is.
[00:15:35] Carl tells a story about an experience he had with a young man who had down syndrome. He goes on to confirms that this is why physical culture excelled in this area, because you have all of the social constructs that we live within, but when it comes to raw strength, when it comes to achieving physical adaptations, all those constructs go out the window. They are no longer measuring you.
[00:18:07] Colin went from 37% body fat to 7% body fat, and he lost a total of 64 pounds for the competition. Any person would be impressed to be able to do that themselves.
[00:19:00] Everyone on the panel states that both Glen and Colin in some way or another inspired them and changed their lives.
