[00:01:05]   Jim explains how he evolved into this nutrition paradigm.

[00:05:25]   Why do doctors pay little or no attention to nutrition at all? Jim eloquently responds. Carl weighs in and shares his opinion.

[00:11:10]   The discussion turns to how the pharmaceutical model resembles the recreational drug model.

[00:16:35]   Jim expounds on how and when it became clear to him that you cannot lump people together in groups/categories/types when it comes to nutrition.

[00:18:40]   He goes on to describe the blood type diet after which he explains why he found it unreliable.

[00:22:00]   Jim elaborates on metabolic typing and metabolism categories. Explaining the 3 basic metabolic types:

  • protein type metabolism,
  • carbo type metabolism, and
  • mix type metabolism.

[00:24:05]   He goes on to clarify how to identify your specific metabolism type.

[00:25:45]   Where does metabolic typing go wrong? Jim replies that people have metabolic tendencies more than they have a solid and firm metabolic type and explains the predictors of the shift in metabolism in people.

  • They are not completely satisfied with what they're eating.
  • They need snacks in between meals.

  • When someone is not eating in harmony with their metabolism, they're not nourishing themselves the way they truly need to be nourished.
  • Lack of energy.
  • Mood rollercoasters.
  • Lack of metal clarity.

[00:39:35]   Disorders that seem to be popular in society today that are clearly eradicated once somebody starts to eat in harmony with their metabolism:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Fatigue
  • Digestive distress
  • Body not responding to exercise
  • Chronic infections
  • Inflammation

[00:44:00]   The conversation segues into youth versus growing older after which epigenetics are discussed.

[00:47:15]   Jim talks about the foods that he immediately and systematically removed from people's diets when they consult with him.

[00:47:35]   Jim discusses the 9 Fundamental Principles of the Art of Nutrition and states that 4 of these practices have value for everybody the other 5 need to be personalized depending on your metabolism a number of other factors can come into play.

The 9 Fundamental Principles of The Art of Nutrition:

  • Intention
  • Integrity
  • Faithful attention to food quality issues
  • Making the right food choices for your metabolism
  • Eating the most nourishing foods for your metabolism, the order in which you eat your food is particularly important.
  • Practicing proper food combining for your metabolism.
  • Eat consciously, begin to practice eating slowly and chewing your food thoroughly.
  • Getting the portion sizes of your protein, fats, and carbohydrates, right. Also known as the macronutrient ratio.
  • Timing, when you eat definitely matters.
