Tap water Continues to be an issue in America. I don't think anyone feel confident drinking tap water. But what about cooking with it? Or showering and bathing in it? [2:36] It takes a lot for municipalities to admit that something is in tap water.
[3:23] What is a forever chemical, and should we be concerned?
- PFA’s do not break down in the body.
- They are a collective group of over 4,000 fluoro chemicals that are found in tap water nationwide.
[5:08] PFA’s are used in things like Teflon.
- Over 95% of the population in America have measurable levels in serum.
[7:44] Minimal amounts are found in the stool, and larger amounts are in the serum.
- This suggests that the body does not pass these contaminants out and, instead, stores them in tissues.
- No one knows what these chemicals can do in the body.
[10:23] Water filter myths.
- “I don’t need a water filter.”- most contaminants can’t be taste or smelled.
- “The filter that I have gets the job done, and all filters are equal.”- most filters are only slightly better than drinking tap water.
- Slower filtration rates=better filtration.
- Different layers of media are going to inherently filter more slowly.
- SSRI’s, statins, and other pharmaceuticals end up in tap water.
[34:55] Clearly filtered filters can discriminate micron size to remove contaminants while retaining minerals.
- They also remove glyphosate.
