SHR # 2433 :: The BluePrint Power Hour
Show Notes:
[4:34] Where should I start when I want to get ripped?
- Are you recording your diet/macros?
- Are you logging your training?
- Diet will ultimately determine if you can see your abs.
- You are eventually going to be hungry.
- You will eventually lose strength, but your goal should be to mitigate this loss.
- Tracking allows you to implement the minimum effective dose of stimulus so that strength and muscle loss can be mitigated.
- Incorporate bodyweight movements.
- Have patience.
- The 10-12 days after dieting are prime time for gains.
- Do not intentionally lower weights for long stretches of time.
- Work on improving insulin sensitivity.
- Stick to whatever path you choose.- Consistency is key.
[15:34] Agmatine.
- It is an N.O. precursor.
- Works on several pathways.
- Possibly a better nutrient partitioner than pump product.
- Rob honestly prefers citrulline.
- If you really want a good pump, learn how to up insulin with a large amount of water.
- High levels of N.O. can inhibit muscle contractile force.
[22:00] Tips on getting bigger for football.
- Some people are not meant to be NFL linemen.
- Up your calories, especially from protein.
- Focus on getting stronger.
- Focus especially on speed. This can increase your momentum, meaning you will hit harder.
- Newton’s second law of motion: F= mass x acceleration.
- Study sprinters: Bigger lower bodies.
- Incorporate plyometrics and speed drills.
- Go get a coach that knows what he is doing.
[34:49] Icopro muscle mist.
- Icopro is the brand started by Vince McMahon.
- Dr. DiPasquale and Fred Hatfield worked on designing the programming.
- The system was heavily advertised on the WWE programming.
- Rob doesn’t recall anything in particular that stood out on the supplement side.
[43:15] Neurotyping.
- Dopamine dominant, serotonin dominant, etc.
- There isn’t a test that is indicative of dopamine/ serotonin levels in the brain.
- Blood levels are not indicative.
- The serotonin produced in the gut does not cross the blood brain barrier.
- There is a possibility that increased blood levels signal the brain to increase its own production, but that has yet to be shown.
- Fix sleep first.
[49:05] Providing direction to angry children.
- Find a kid that will kick his ass.
- Picking fights is a bad thing, especially because kids that do this pick targets that they know they can beat.
- If it is a serious issue, get him therapy.
- Enroll him in Jiu-Jitsu to teach him humility with less chance of getting hurt.
- You want him to get his ass kicked in class rather than on the streets or in another dangerous environment.
- The military is an alternate avenue.
[1:02:45] Keeping up with volume of westide conjugate method.
- Pick 1-2 supplemental movements and do 2 sets to near failure each.
- Perform GPP work on off days. Don’t let them turn into anything strenuous. This present unnecessary physical and mental taxation.
- Keep GPP work to 15-30 minutes.
- Be able to keep a conversation during this time.
- Look into recovery modalities such as redlight, NIR, sauna, PEMF, etc.
- Cut volume back if necessary, especially as you age.
[1:10:32] Going through divorce.
- Don’t isolate yourself.
- Find a good buddy that you can talk to.
- By virtue of the process, your next partner will be better for you.
- Start dating.
- Redefine yourself. Get more serious about your other goals.
- The struggle will help you to appreciate your next partner even more.
