  • She grew up in southern California and was active and outside most of the time as a child.

  • She was an early Venice beach strength performer.

[12:58] When did Lynn decide to try olympic lifting?

  • About three years ago.
  • It was the dynamics of bar movement that got her hooked.

[16:35] You are never too old to improve.

[17:35] Flexibility and the ability to be ambulatory as you age.

  • Lynn has reaped rewards in strength, stability, stamina, and flexibility from olympic lifting.

[27:10] Aggression and vocal disinhibition are discussed. How does Lynn “flip the switch” when she needs to?

  • It is a matter of trusting her coach and confidence in herself.
  • Mindset is a matter of keeping things simple.
  • Her coach only gives her one cue at a time.

[32:45] Compartmentalizing the individual aspects of each lift.

  • The complexity of the lift is what makes it fun.

[34:15] Lynn is now competing.

  • Her coach, Matt, convinced her to compete.
  • Wearing a singlet was something that she had to overcome mentally.
  • The experience was more exciting than scary, and the entire crowd was extremely supportive.
  • She ended up qualifying for national masters.
  • She plans to compete in November at the American masters.

[39:01] The allostatic load of living the life that one chooses.

  • At the age of 60 you have to do everything right in order to make progression.

[42:31] Carl and Lynn want to stay in shape so that they do not have to be taken care of.
