Reversing Lung Fibrosis - New Study
with Guest Dr. Paul W. Noble, MD
Investigators from the Women’s Guild Lung Institute at Cedars-Sinai have discovered that zinc, a common mineral, may reverse lung damage and improve survival for patients with a deadly age-related condition known as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). Their findings, published in The Journal of Clinical Investigation, have the potential to change the landscape of treatment for patients with this disease, which most often affects those over age 50.

Reversing Lung Fibrosis - New Study
[00:03:34] Dr Paul explains how big of a problem pulmonary fibrosis is today.
[00:04:10] 3 Big categories:
- Something you breathe in – environmental exposures.
- Asbestosis, Silicosis
- Antigens
- Mold in the home - can lead to something called hypersensitivity pneumonitis, which is quite common particularly here in California.
- Systemic diseases like autoimmune diseases.
- Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF).
[00:05:26] Pulmonary fibrosis is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in autoimmune related disease.
[00:06:37] All patients, 75% or more, who have idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis have smoked in the past.
[00:08:19] Dr Paul eloquently describes why the study started and what the study entails.
[00:12:50] Dr Paul explains how fibrinogen plays a role in the process.
[00:13:52] A discussion on how damaging vaping is, follows.
[00:15:00] Dr Paul answers an interesting question on mouth breathing and gastroesophageal reflux disease.
[00:16:00] Carl shares his view on the connection between IPF and gut issues.
[00:18:45] There is a marked increase in the incidence of sleep apnea in patients with IPF. Dr Paul expounds on this fact after which the discussion turns to coffee drinking.
[00:21:14] Dr Paul explains how the study was designed – fascinating!
[00:24:39] NAD+ and Resveratrol are some of the supplements that have a therapeutic effect on fibrosis of tissue. Carl talks about less expensive ways to get the same results.
- 100mg of real Niacin will upregulate your own NAD.
- If Resveratrol is too expensive, time restrictive eating increases sirtuins, 16/8.
[00:25:57] There's a therapeutic window regarding zinc dosage. Suggestions are adequate somewhere in the 30 to 50 mg range.
[00:32:05] Carl talks about his experience with the peptide Thymosin Beta 4, must listen!
[00:36:32] Dr Paul explains the role of senescent cells in the development of fibrosis in the lungs.
[00:37:55] The discussion transposes into the overlapping of regenerative medicine and anti-aging medicine.
[00:40:27] Dr Paul has a remarkably interesting explanation about what can be learned from lung transplant patients.
[00:44:31] I smoked for over a decade, often unfiltered and inhaled cigar, and piped tobacco. I have not smoked in four years. What would be the best protocol with zinc (or otherwise0 to repair/improve lung function? Dr Paul replies to this question – tune in!
[00:47:00] The discussion turns to the use of N-Acetylcysteine (NAC) via nebulizer to reduce lung function decline.
[00:52:12] An interesting discussion follows on the rate of IPF in Barrett's Esophagus patients.
[00:53:33] Dr Paul explains what he hopes both clinicians and lay people take away from this paper.
[00:48:48] Have a look on YouTube for Carl’s videos where he shows how to inject BPC157 into your knee and the interesting and result driven ways he uses the ARX machine.
