[00:03:46] The introductory discussion focusses on the confusion that mainstream media can create around scientific papers, but also how much conflicting information is conveyed to the general public by scientists and bodies like the American Heart Association
[00:14:39] Dr Chris gives a riveting explanation about his rebuttal against a paper from the American Heart Association (AHA) on coconut oil and saturated fat and provides some background on the study.
[00:20:40] Carl joins in with an interesting story about Dr Paul Dudley White who brought the electrocardiogram to the United States from Paris.
[00:22:18] Dr Chris continues with his opinion on the stance of institutions like the AHA after which Carl voices his opinion as well.

- Paleo
- it can be great for people with food intolerances.
- the biggest drawback is a lot of people are not getting calcium.
- Ketogenic
- It is important to recognize it in context that no one, even the Inuit have ever been shown to be ketogenic on their traditional diets.
- This is a new tool that grew out of the research on how to help people with refractory epilepsy and it is being broadened in its applications to other things.
- I would not prescribe it for general health.
- It can however be utilized for assisting in health benefits during specific neurologic diseases for instance.
- Vegan
- If you happen to win a genetic lottery that allows you to harness all of the nutrients, you need from plant foods with no problem.
- There are a lot of genetic variations in the ability to derive different nutrients from plant foods, there are another set of nutrients that are just easier to get with animal foods.
- If you want to eat an overwhelmingly plant-based diet, there's better ways to do it than veganism.
- Dr Chris elaborates further.

- You have to be conscious about what you are choosing for your diet, and you got to constantly reevaluate whether your diet's actually meeting your needs.
