Can Testosterone Actually Cure Prostate Cancer?
with Guest Dr. Samuel Denmeade, MD
Dr. Denmeade appeared on SHR in 2016 when his research first came to light. This latest study shows great promise for me with the most aggressive metastatic prostate cancers. Even those that are resistant to androgen deprivation therapy which is the gold standard. But we are told that testosterone causes prostate cancer? How does it reverse it?

Show Notes:
Can Testosterone Actually Cure Prostate Cancer?
[00:03:28] Dr Samuel expounds on why he challenged the idea that androgen causes prostate cancer and goes on to explain that at least in the scientific community, the overall sentiment is that androgens do not cause prostate cancer, but that androgens get turned into estrogens and estrogens might cause prostate cancer.
[00:07:22] The discussion turns to the testosterone dosage and bipolar testosterone therapy regime within the study.
[00:09:52] Dr Samuel eloquently responds to a few of Carl’s views and questions on testosterone dosage.
[00:16:06] The conversation segues into prostate cancer drugs and their side effects. Comparisons between side effects of bipolar testosterone therapy and these anti-cancer drugs are also discussed.
[00:20:12] Dr Samuel replies to a question on how many people the bipolar testosterone therapy worked for. Carl joins in.
[00:21:25] Carl communicates his theory on the results that were reached from this therapy and Dr Samuel shares his view on that by elaborating on the amplitude of the testosterone pulse.
[00:29:45] Dr Samuel continues with a discussion on androgen receptors and the role it plays in normal tissue and in cancer.
[00:31:17] Carl asks a question on whether PSAs (prostate specific antigens) are a reliable source to look at, to which Dr Samuel responds.
[00:34:17] Carl talks about his personal use of oxytocin and then asks if it is possible that the body up regulates PSAs because it is being challenged and it is trying to fix the prostate? Tune in for Dr Samuel’s interesting answer.
[00:38:27] Carl shares his theory on orgasms and the effect it has on prostate health ?
[00:39:35] Dr Samuel joins in with his view on the subject and has a riveting explanation of what the reason for the prostate gland might be.
[00:41:22] The conversation turns to medications like
- Viagra
- Cialis
- Phosphodiesterase with Tylenol
[00:49:00] After a brief explanation from Carl about the mitochondria and the effect that food could have on it, he asks if there is a possibility of a link to diet and propensity of prostate cancer? Dr Samuel responds articulately.
[00:54:55] The discussion then interestingly turns to the immune system and the microbiome.
[00:56:56] What would you say to clinicians and physicians that are listening to this and would like to try this bipolar testosterone therapy with a patient?
[00:59:09] Dr Samuel briefly answers 2 questions from the audience.
[01:00:41] Dr Samuel replies to Carl’s last question on the incidence of prostate cancer under type II diabetic men.
[01:02:11] The show is concluded with a short conversation on hormone replacement therapy.
