  • Coach Rob explains in detail how he and his son trains outdoors.
  • Training outdoors does have many advantages. from the sunshine to the fresh air, to the creativity that it sparks.
  • It does help to be well equipped, but not necessary.

[00:13:25]   Is there a downside to using resistance bands?

  • Force = mass x acceleration.
  • The bands pull down on a barbell at a faster rate than the barbell alone would otherwise drop.
  • That produces a greater stretch reflex.
  • The bands teach you to be explosive.
  • Using too much band tension or using bands too frequently is tough on your joints and connective tissue, because,
    • the bands are pulling the barbell down at a faster rate than just naturally lowering it, which results in more stress in the muscle, tendons, ligaments, and joints.
    • connective tissues do not have the same ability to adapt to that stress the same degree muscles do by getting larger and stronger over time.
  • Use bands in moderation.

  • 1mg per day injected is highly effective for acute injury.
  • Injectables are generally more efficient than oral forms.
