Glioblastoma; Paving the Way Toward Future Treatments PLUS A Conversation with Robert Patton
with Guests Andrew Scarborough, BSc (Hons), PgCert - Isabella Cooper- FnDNutr., BSc (Hons), AFHEA, AMRSB, AfENDO

Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most common and aggressive malignant brain tumour in adults. The standard of care at diagnosis includes surgical resection, radiation, and chemotherapy. Little progress has been made to improve outcomes, with a median survival of 12 months from diagnosis. One emerging strategy that differs from conventional GBM therapies is metabolic pathway targeting. At present there has yet to be any research outlining a metabolic phenotype of disease via observation of key biomarkers. To pave the way for future studies, it is key to establish what metabolic dysregulation looks like in a cohort of GBM patients to direct interventions. PLUS Necessity is the mother of invention they say. And sometimes the most obvious things are the path to the greatest changes. [00:05:24]   Andrew briefly explains what astrocytoma is.

[00:07:38]   He goes on to explain how the cancer was not chemo sensitive and the treatments he pursued after abandoning chemo as well as how he got involved in cancer research.

[00:11:28]   Isabella clarifies what the different metabolic phenotypes mean and what they hoped the end point of the study would be.

[00:20:27]   Andrew and Isabella address a question on the significance of lean body mass in this instance and what the effects of muscle on each of these phenotypes would be.

[00:34:47]   Isabella explains what role the microbiome plays in brain cancer.

[00:39:55]   The discussion flows into MRIs and contrast and the adverse effects it can have.

[00:43:18]   Carl talks about a friend of his who has a form of lung cancer in her brain, Isabella expounds on this phenomenon.

[00:52:33]   Both Isabella and Andrew share their view on healthy time restricted eating and how or if it could affect cancer. Carl joins in.

[01:00:56]   Isabella and Andrew talk about what they have planned for the near future.

A Conversation with Robert Patton

[01:08:43]   Robert explains how he came up with the idea for Sheath Underwear.

[01:10:16]   Robert designed a compartmentalized pouch so people can separate their parts in the underwear and the material seems to wick very well. Various materials:

  • Modal fabric - Modal fabric is a semi-synthetic fabric made from beech tree pulp that is used primarily for clothing.
  • Bamboo
  • Mesh

[01:11:34]   Carl explains how one can still be in fasting while under 600 calories – called the fasting mimicking diet.

[01:13:20]   Sheath Underwear carries a full money back guarantee on the first pair you buy.

[01:19:29]   Robert discusses how Sheath provides for better blood flow and how that is much healthier for you. Carl joins in with the subject on erectile disfunction.
