SHR # 2443 :: The BluePrint Power Hour

Show Notes:

[2:58] How and when to use the reverse hyper machine.

  • 2x/week- 1 heavy day and 1 light day.
  • They are to be performed after deadlifts.
  • Lighter day: use strict form. Keep the legs straight, cut the ROM almost in half, plantar flex toes to take the calves out of the equation and place more emphasis on the hamstrings.
  • If you have lower back pain, use a very low weight.

[9:29] Rhabdo revisitied.

  • Baking soda helps to prevent rhabdo.
  • Never jump into a novel stimulus headfirst.
  • Upper body sessions and shorter rest periods trigger rhabdo more than their counterparts.
  • Deload appropriately.
  • Tribulus, ecdy, and ursolic acid help with overall kidney function.
  • Maintain high cellular antioxidants.
  • Get bloodwork done.
  • Rhabdo is preventable.

[27:26] Where is the best place to get your info on AAS from?

  • There is nobody as groundbreaking today as Dan Duchenne was.
  • William Llewelyn is a good source of info.
  • There is tons of information on the web. Some is crap. Some is good.
  • Understand that nobody ever does just 1 cycle.
  • Bloodwork is essential at least 1-2 times per year.
  • Women who consume 300mg of caffeine per day have impaired vitamin d receptor affinity. This is a problem, even if 25-hydroxy levels are high in the blood.
  • Never do a bulking cycle without incorporating cardio.
  • Know what to do if everything goes south.
  • Have a good lawyer.
  • Never speak with police or allow searches without a warrant.

[40:52] Why can’t I just keep using the same protocol for strength gains?

  • You have to know what to do after you have peaked.
  • The BP Basic patterns are designed to be stacked on each other to build strength.
  • The repeated bout effect starts to take hold after each cycle, and you will start to miss reps, etc when trying to repeat a cycle.

[1:05:05] Degenerative arthritis in the knee.

  • GH- can regrow cartilage so well that abuse can lead to “joint crowding”.
  • Injectable glucosamine.
  • Pentosan polysulfate- almost sounds like a 1 shot cure, however, it can contribute to thrombocypenia and increase stroke risk.
  • Possibly look into PRP and hylauronic acid combo.

[1:33:54] Tip of the day: Thoughts on aging.

  • You can strength train well into old age.
  • You would do well to study Vice Gironda.
  • He advocated for liver tabs and fertilized whole eggs.
  • Book: A Muscle Has Six Sides.
  • Ironguru.com
