Plasma Dilution Reduces Biological Age

.- Dr. Michael Conboy, PhD

Opioid use rates have dropped as North American patients gain access to medical cannabis, indicating a harm reduction role, yet health outcomes remain mostly unexplored. This study presents self-reported medical cannabis use, perceptions of health functioning, and changes in opioid pain medication use in Florida medical cannabis patients.

PLUS Real Anti-aging Series: Evidence that aging in a great part is the result of metabolic debris. Something I've been saying for over 5 years now. Early parabiosis studies showed something magical happens when you replace old blood with new blood. The Conboy Lab as UC Berkeley has put a finer point on this theory by focusing on the plasma portion of blood.

Could Cannabis Cure the Opioid  Crisis?

[00:05:30]   The interview starts with some statistics on the opioid epidemic.

[00:06:32]   There was a drop in the number of opioid prescriptions and other pain and psychiatric medicines, in states where cannabis was legalized for recreational use Carolyn confirms this.

[00:09:22]   Carl states that we have an endocannabinoid system which means that we have come in contact with cannabinoids in plant form throughout evolution. The first published report scientifically was in the 1800’s.

[00:11:17]   Carolyn explains how the study was designed.

[00:15:15]   Carl speculates that the majority of people who take opioids for legitimate reasons or abuse them are always constipated, and they end up with nutritional deficiencies because of mal absorption. Carolyn responds.

[00:16:37]   Carolyn explains the end points they were looking for and what the outcome was.

[00:19:50]   Carl shares a story about a persona loss and goes on to ask if they found that opioid addicts are stigmatized.

[00:22:34]   Did you follow any of the subjects after the study was done to see if they went back to opioid use or if they kept using cannabis?

[00:23:45]   Carl makes an interesting statement that drug use is a type of culture too. Carolyn joins in with a theory about dopamine.

[00:33:55]   The discussion turns to Kratom and other plant-based medicines and the lack of study funding on these products.

[00:39:35]   Carolyn elaborates on what the analgesic effect of cannabis is.

[00:41:41]   Carolyn elaborates on the difference in effects on pure CBD versus CBD with THC. Carl joins in with remarkably interesting views. The discussion on this topic evolves – don’t miss out!

[00:53:50]   Carolyn expounds on the outcome of the study that Cannabis is doing more good than harm and names a few of the typical negative side effects.

[00:59:00]   Carl talks about a study that cannabis can increase your lung capacity.

[01:00:27]   Carolyn explains how long cannabis stays in your body. Carl joins in with a personal story.

[01:02:27]   Carolyn confirms that cannabis has been used to help people get off of Oxycodone.

[01:03:28]   The conversation turns to the legality of cannabis – tune in!

Plasma Dilution Reduces Biological Age

[01:13:40]   Irina and Mike share a riveting explanation on their research to the audience.

[01:16:50]   The discussion turns to the turnover of red blood cells, plasma etc. Irina gives a fitting example of turnover ?

[01:20:20]   What markers of aging do you look at when you're comparing the pre-treatment and post-treatment patient? Both Irina and Mike eloquently respond on the results they found and how they collaborated on the study with various stakeholders.

[01:24:45]   Carl asks their opinion on his process of donating blood versus the synthetic plasma they use in plasmapheresis.

[01:26:41]   Irina explains what synthetic plasma is and responds to Carl drinking raw eggs ? and the discussion turns to albumen.

[01:30:20]   Irina responds to a question of Carl’s on visceral fat, with a very interesting perspective.

[01:32:00]   She then goes on to talk about plasma donations.

[01:34:25]   Did the rodents live longer when you did the plasma pheresis? Mike responds and Irina shares her opinion as well.

[01:38:47]   Carl expounds on oxytocin and L-reuteri and then asked if they saw any outward display of younger behavior in the rodents that received the plasmapheresis. Irina elaborates more on the results they have seen thus far.

[01:44:00]   Carl talks about his “double red” apheresis experience. Mike shares his opinion.

[01:45:10]   Irina explains how much plasma can be taken and how long it takes your body to produce more. Mike contributes to the conversation.

[01:48:40]   Listen to an astonishing discussion on the liver.

[01:51:00]   Irina shares a fascinating metaphor.
