It's more for me than for you..

January 1, 2017 I’m doing this more for me than you the reader. But if it helps you focus and stay on task with your health and fitness that’s good too. I’ve made no resolutions for 2017. It’s a continuation of 2016’s missions that I haven’t achieved yet. With that being said, next click on my age-dial is 59 in June of 2017. I’m still able to build muscle and I’m still able to be strong and I’m going to milk that for as long as I can. I figured I need a before picture so here it is. This was taken 3 days after Thanksgiving. First leg day of 2017 went like this: 5 giant-set circuits; leg press + leg extension + seated leg curls in succession with no rest in between movements. ~3 minutes rest in between giant-sets. Leg press: 6 plates per side x 25 reps + Leg...

Why You Should Never Take Medical Advice From A Celebrity

Why You Should Never Take Medical Advice From A Celebrity

Prilosec is one of most popular drugs sold in America. It’s a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used to treat periodic and chronic Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease or what we commonly call heartburn. Its stablemate is Nexium. These two PPI’s are owned by AstraZeneca which garners over $1.5 billion in sales of these two popular drugs each year. PPI’s reduce the amount of hydrochloric acid produced in the stomach – which emerging science is now showing in and of itself is a bad idea. And if you want to understand what really causes GERD you can read this article. It’s estimated that 60% of the American population suffer periodic bouts of GERD over the course of a year and some 30% have regular weekly bouts. This lead to close to 300 million PPI prescription being written between 2006 and 2010. It’s a $14 billion a year class of drugs. Wow that’s a lot...

Why Non-24 Is a Bull$#!t Diagnosis

Why Non-24 Is a Bull$#!t Diagnosis

A listener of Super Human Radio called the studio to ask about a supplement we talked about on an older show. I learned during the conversation that he lost his sight as a young boy. I thought to ask him a question that has occupied my mind lately. Every time I see the commercial for the pharmaceutical drug called Hetlioz made by Vanda Pharmaceutical. I asked him “have you ever used the drug for non-24?”. He said no but a gal he knows has and she didn’t like it. It made her feel ill and didn’t improve her sleep one bit. I have no idea what it’s like to be blind so I asked him “why not just use melatonin?” He began to laugh and said that’s what he does. Non-24 is a bull$#!t diagnosis. Not because it doesn't exists. Because it doesn't require a pharmaceutical drug to treat it! A...

Carl Needs Your Help

Carl Needs Your Help

When Alisa and I were in California in April we met with Norm Pattiz of Podcast One. Norm is the guy who started the broadcast syndication network Westwood One. He has now turned his attention to Podcasting. He was very excited about adding Super Human Radio to their network.. When we left the meeting we were walking on air. Podcast One would give us a larger platform to change the health of more Americans. But then progress just stalled. Help me out by suggesting Podcast One pick up Super Human Radio as a new Podcast to get this moving again please. Go here and simply select New Show Suggestion from the drop down and write in Super Human Radio.. The entire process takes less than 30 seconds. Thank you in advance - now here's the link   http://www.podcastone.com/contactus Carl Lanore

Could Thrīv’s bacteria reduce the risk of breast cancer?

Could Thrīv’s bacteria reduce the risk of breast cancer?

Thrīv Advance provides 350 million colony forming units of Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium longum, per serving. But these aren’t just any bacteria, they are lactic acid bacteria. Lactic acid bacteria are a diverse group of microbes that feed on carbohydrates and produce lactic acid as the major end product. It is thanks to this group of organisms that we are able to enjoy the sour taste of yogurt, cheese, sauerkraut, and kimchi, to name a few commonly eaten fermented foods. More importantly, these bacteria are also some of the first to populate the infant gut, as they are present on the breast skin and in the breast milk of breastfeeding mothers. In fact, women’s breasts harbor a unique set of microbes – their own microbiome, if you will. Although most people immediately think of the gut when the microbiome is mentioned, there are numerous microbiome communities on and within the body....

SSRI Exposure During Pregnancy Leads To Brain Abnormalities In Newborns

SSRI Exposure During Pregnancy Leads To Brain Abnormalities In Newborns

A new study shows that fetuses exposed to their mother’s SSRI’s have brain abnormalities. SSRI's are a class of antidepressant that many physicians prescribe today. We are so damn cavalier and reckless with the use of pharmaceutical drugs today. Physicians regularly tell pregnant mothers “don’t stop taking your SSRI” but fail to tell them this … “According a new study, fetal exposure to commonly used SRI drugs may affect brain activity in newborns. The researchers suggest that the effects of drugs on fetal brain function should be assessed more carefully, Indications for preventive medication should be critically evaluated, and non-pharmacological interventions should be the first-line treatment for depression and anxiety during pregnancy.” Stop poisoning your children. Don’t look to the FDA to protect you from the pharmaceutical companies.. They’re part of the problem. Lumbar Spine Decompression With The Reverse Hyper

If you or anyone you know suffers from lumbar spine compression it's no joke. Most say it's irreversible. My good friend Dr. William Seeds who is a nationally renowned orthopedic surgeon told me about this some time ago but it wasn't till Jance Footit sent this video to me that I took this seriously.  This digital motion x-ray shows just how well the reverse hyper works. This could be the answer for those who's lumbar spine is degenerating threatening their ability to function some day. This video comes to you courtesy of Westside Barbell, Dr. Jerome Rerucha and Digital Motion X-ray http://www.dmxworks.com/ . Here's the video   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYRAYuErzYA

What I've learned on my birthday

What I've learned on my birthday

I have to thank so many of you for your birthday wishes. I am overwhelmed.. and as a result of the outpouring of kindness, I realized something. I received a cosmic gift this year for my 58th birthday. Maybe I knew it intelligently in the past but the role of realization is to bond what we "know" to emotions that make it "real"... to allow us to take action using this knowledge. I realized that  when I focus on the 90% of what's right in my life and not the 10% that's not how I would like it to be... I have a great life with lots to be thankful for. And this weekend I lived in that gratitude. I didn't do anything extraordinary by most birthday standards.. spent the day with the most amazing and generous woman whom I love.. laid out by the pool and worshiped the sun.. went...

Proteinaholic Rebuttal

Proteinaholic Rebuttal

Howard, I applaud you for co-authoring the book Proteinaholic and approaching the Super Human Radio interview with a combination of open-mindedness, thoughtfulness, and skepticism. You were a joy to listen to and I believe that we need more individuals such as yourself promoting the diversity of thought that Proteinaholic brings to light. While the bulk of this letter addresses certain topics that we do not see eye-to-eye on, I want to start by highlighting the numerous points of agreement that were brought up throughout the hour interview. The irony with these, of course, is that they have little to nothing to do with protein. 1)      All humans in the world are the same species and we will therefore have a fundamental dietary pattern that best suits our needs. At the core, this will be a whole-foods, plant-based diet without all the processed crap (can I say that on here?). 2)      The...
